To capture a contested passage in Epic Age, your alliance must bridge territory directly to the gate perimeter, establish forward encampments, wipe the defending garrison before its reset timer expires, and deploy protected demolition teams to reduce the structure's durability to zero.

Strategic choke points such as the Nisa Passage control access to high-tier regions like the Great Plain. Securing these gateways halts enemy expansion and provides the territorial buffer needed to advance into central battlefields.

1. Bridge Tiles and Establish Forward Encampments

Launching attacks from distant home cities depletes army stamina, lowers morale, and exposes marching columns to field ambushes. Alliance leadership must order vanguard players to claim an unbroken chain of territory up to the passage entrance.

Once territory reaches the gate, members must build frontline tents and encampments. Staging armies locally provides three critical advantages:

  • Morale Preservation: Armies engage the gate at full combat efficiency without suffering travel decay.
  • Fast Reinforcements: Severely wounded units can retreat to nearby tents, heal, and return to combat within minutes.
  • Territorial Defense: Forward structures create a physical buffer that forces enemy forces to clear outer perimeter tiles before attacking main rally points.

2. Execute a Two-Phase Gate Assault

Passages feature two separate defense layers: an NPC defensive garrison and a structural durability pool. Attack forces should be divided into specialized roles to avoid wasted stamina and slow siege output.

Garrison BreakersNPC defenders and defending playersBurst damage, survivability, high moraleEliminates the garrison before the reset timer triggers

Garrison Breakers must strike first. Coordinate alliance marches to engage simultaneously and clear out the defending defenders in a single push. Once the garrison is defeated, immediately order Demolition Teams forward. These siege units must sustain continuous attacks against the passage structure before the garrison can respawn.

3. Screen Siege Teams Against Flanking Attacks

Slow-moving demolition units are vulnerable to enemy cavalry and open-field strike teams. If rival alliances contest the passage, combat squads must form defensive screens around the siege zone rather than attacking the gate directly.

  • Station intercept teams on nearby approach roads and natural choke points.
  • Maintain scouting vision over enemy reinforcement routes to detect incoming hostile columns early.
  • Intercept incoming enemy vanguards before they reach the demolition perimeter to prevent siege interruptions.

4. Secure the Exit and Fortify New Territory

A captured passage becomes vulnerable immediately after falling. Rival guilds will frequently mount a counter-attack while your assault forces are depleted from the siege.

The moment the passage is secured, alliance members must push through the archway into the newly opened region. Claim initial land tiles directly outside the exit, construct forward towers, and station healthy defensive squads at the boundary to secure the bridgehead into the Great Plain.
