Fantasy Life i on PC is a slow-life RPG built around the freedom to decide what kind of adventurer you want to be. Its setting combines a large fantasy continent, an uncharted island, and a time-spanning mystery: you set sail with the archaeologist Edward and his team, follow the guiding light of a fossilized dragon, and uncover the secrets of a world threatened by the mysterious skeletal dragon known as The Depths. The story moves between the island’s golden age 1,000 years in the past and the present day, giving exploration a clear purpose as you investigate how the island was destroyed and respond to the message from a girl pleading, “Save this world...” At the same time, Fantasy Life i leaves room for a quieter routine. You can travel across the landscape, gather materials, grow crops, fish, cook, craft, or simply spend time developing your own island instead of rushing from one story objective to the next.

The game’s defining system is its 14 unique Lives, which function as professions with distinct identities and playstyles. Gathering Lives focus on collecting ingredients and materials, Crafting Lives turn those resources into weapons and meals, and Combat Lives let you confront monsters directly. Because you can switch between Lives at any time, the core loop is flexible: explore to find resources, change roles to make practical use of them, fight when the journey demands it, and return to your island with the supplies needed for further restoration and customization. Your island is more than a home base. You can place houses and objects, reshape the landscape, create rivers and roads, restore the island to its former glory, expand your home, and arrange furniture to shape both its exterior and interior. Exploration is similarly open-ended. The continent is the largest in the series, and traversal includes climbing towering cliffs, swimming across rivers and lakes, and riding across the land on a mount; the Teleportation Gate provides a convenient way to return to the continent from anywhere. On PC, a larger display gives you more room to read the world around you while plotting routes through open terrain, judging paths toward cliffs and waterways, and keeping track of environmental details during the island’s past-and-present investigation. Keyboard-and-mouse controls can also make frequent activities more deliberate and manageable, from moving between Lives and selecting gathered materials to comparing crafting needs, arranging furniture, and placing roads or rivers during island construction. Cross-play support allows you to play together with friends on mobile devices and consoles, while the mobile version’s 2P Family Co-op feature is specifically unavailable. With its combination of story exploration, profession switching, resource gathering, crafting, combat, and hands-on island management, Fantasy Life i on PC is best understood as a flexible adventure where progress comes from choosing how you want to spend your time.
