Ending a marriage in Fate of the Empress dissolves your marital bond, resets shared Intimacy to zero, deactivates wedding ring stat resonance, and evicts both players from their shared residence. Before confirming a separation at the Matchmaker, collect any unclaimed couple quest rewards and ensure you have enough resources to cover solo heir upkeep, as losing couple bonuses causes an immediate drop in combat Might.

How to Initiate a Divorce

To dissolve a marriage, visit the Matchmaker NPC or open the Romance section in your profile menu. The process depends on whether both players consent:

  • Mutual Separation: Both players agree to split. One partner files the divorce request with the Matchmaker, sending a confirmation prompt to the other. Once accepted, the union dissolves without an extra penalty fee.
  • Forced Divorce: If your spouse is offline or unwilling to consent, you can submit a unilateral petition. This route bypasses partner approval but costs an Ingot fee. If your spouse has been offline for an extended duration, the game may reduce or waive standard separation restrictions.

What Happens to Couple Perks and Might

Breaking up removes all shared marital bonuses immediately. Your regular social friendship remains intact on your contact list, but all marriage-specific features are dismantled.

Feature / AssetPost-Divorce StatusGameplay Impact
Couple IntimacyReset to zeroYou lose your intimacy rank and unlocked couple titles.
Wedding Ring AttributesDeactivatedRing stats tied to partner resonance turn off, lowering Might.
Couple Tree / GardenClearedDaily watering perks, shared experience, and growth bonuses end.
Couple TitlesRemovedMarital and ceremonial titles are stripped from your profile.

Because deactivating ring resonance lowers your total Might score, you must compensate for the deficit through personal character systems, such as gem upgrades, gear enhancements, and relic refinement, until you remarry.

Heir Custody and Daily Management

Divorcing does not delete existing heirs, but it changes how daily training and combat deployment function:

  • Custody and Deployment: Heirs are assigned either by mutual agreement during a consensual split or automatically based on parenting milestones. The custodial parent keeps the child residing in their private quarters and retains their active course buffs and combat assist skills in battle formations.
  • Visitation and Care: The non-custodial parent retains visitation rights and can still interact with the heir. However, double-parent study bonuses and joint vitality replenishment end. The custodial parent must independently fund the child's vitality snacks and Silver costs to keep daily course training on schedule.

Mansion and Furniture Changes

Dissolving a marriage removes access to your shared residence, ending joint bedroom layouts, collaborative cleaning buffs, and shared prosperity bonuses.

  1. Eviction: Both players return to their individual solo estates.
  2. Item Recovery: Any furniture or decorative items you personally bought or crafted return directly to your domestic inventory. Items placed by your ex-partner remain with their account.
  3. Comfort Rebuilding: Because shared prosperity ratings disappear, visit your personal manor immediately after the divorce to place your recovered furniture and rebuild your solo domestic comfort rating.

Remarriage Cooldown

A mandatory cooldown period begins as soon as the divorce is finalized. During this window, neither player can propose or hold a ceremony in the Hall of Harmony.

If you plan to marry a new partner once the cooldown expires, you must restart your romance progression from the beginning by accumulating Intimacy through flower gifts, team instances, and interactive chat before booking a new wedding.
