Relics in Fate of the Empress provide permanent team-wide attribute buffs and combat passives that increase your squad's total Might. To maximize their benefits, collect shards through shops and events, appraise unverified pieces to reveal rolled stats, evolve star ranks to trigger passive milestones, and invest rare sublimation materials into top-tier gear.

Obtaining Relics and Shards

You can assemble full Relics once you accumulate enough corresponding shards. Relics primarily scale by rarity, with Fabled (Orange) and Divine (Red) pieces offering the highest stat caps and combat passives.

  • Event Exchanges and Limited Banners: Cyclical festivals, ranking events, and limited draws are the main sources for Divine Relics and exclusive Fabled pieces. Save your event tokens and premium currency for targeted shard chests rather than spreading resources across multiple banners.
  • Guild and Faction Shops: Faction duties and guild battles grant shop tokens redeemable for rotating shards. Commit your daily or weekly currency to one specific Relic until it is unlocked.
  • Exploration Modes: Adventure stages, tower trials, and routine daily challenges drop basic enhancement materials, unappraised fragments, and low-tier Relic chests.

Focus your shop purchases on a single Relic tailored to your primary damage dealer or main tank before buying shards for secondary heroes.

Appraising Relics and Allocating Rolled Stats

Unappraised Relics do not grant their full stat contribution until evaluated. Appraising a piece unlocks its base attributes and rolls random secondary lines.

Evaluate the resulting secondary stats to assign the Relic to an appropriate class:

Stat FocusTarget ClassesCombat Function
ATK / CRIT / AGIScholar, Gourmet, Primary DPSIncreases burst damage and ensures attackers act before enemy debuffers.
DEF / HP / RESGuard, Frontline TanksMitigates incoming burst damage and sustains the frontline across extended rounds.
ACC / Effect BuffsMedicine, Crowd ControlEnsures status effects, stuns, and stat reductions land on high-RES targets.

Do not discard or dismantle appraised Relics that roll secondary stats misaligned with your main carry. Every identified Relic adds passive Might to your account and helps fulfill requirements for team-wide resonance sets.

Evolving Star Ranks and Milestone Passives

Evolving a Relic increases its star rank, improving flat base stats such as ATK, DEF, and HP. Evolution requires duplicate shards of that specific Relic alongside evolution currencies.

Follow this progression sequence when investing evolution resources:

  1. Reach the 3-Star Milestone: Hitting the 3-star threshold unlocks or enhances the Relic's innate passive skill, such as round-start energy gains or squad damage reduction.
  2. Push to the 5-Star Threshold: Advancing to 5 stars maximizes the passive trigger values, adding effects like emergency shields at low health.
  3. Balance Upgrades Across Core Roles: Higher star tiers demand significantly more duplicate shards. Upgrading two core Relics to their initial major passive thresholds provides more practical combat utility than dumping all shards into fully maxing a single piece.

Prioritize your main damage dealer's offensive Relic first, followed immediately by your frontline Guard's defensive piece.

Subliming Relics for Endgame Ceilings

Sublimation is the final upgrade system for high-evolution Relics. This process requires advanced refinement materials earned through high-tier faction rewards, competitive rankings, and endgame challenge modes.

Subliming provides two distinct upgrades:

  • Attribute Breakthroughs: It bypasses standard stat caps, scaling basic defense and attack values into multipliers that pierce through enemy defensive stats.
  • Passive Skill Evolution: Sublimed passives gain secondary battle triggers, including team debuff cleanses, extended crowd-control durations, or temporary cheat-death barriers.

Refinement materials are scarce. Reserve sublimation resources strictly for permanent Divine or top-tier Fabled Relics that remain in your core formation permanently.

Relic Hall Resonance and Deployment

You do not need to equip a Relic directly to a character to gain value from it. Relics displayed in your Relic Hall passively grant baseline Might and account-wide bonuses.

  • Complete Resonance Sets: Open your Relic index to view specific set pairings. Unlocking and leveling matching sets activates passive resonance bonuses, providing percentage-based HP and overall damage reduction to your entire team.
  • Match Skills Over Raw Might: When assigning active Relics to individual heroes, prioritize passives that match hero roles over raw Might scores. A lower-rarity Relic providing direct energy gain or crowd-control resistance often outperforms a pure stat Relic in challenging combat.
  • Audit Completed Shards: Check your inventory after recurring event cycles to combine finished shard stacks and appraise newly completed pieces immediately.
