To get strong fast in FATE: Reawakened, build an early gold reserve through town fishing, reinvest that gold at the gambler vendor for high-tier weapons, and allocate your attribute points strictly to meet weapon requirements. This bypasses the weak gear curve of early dungeon floors without exposing your character to combat danger.

Fish in Town for Safe Early Gold and Equipment

Before entering the dungeon, buy a fishing pole from the general vendor in town and fish at the local fishing hole. Fishing requires no combat and regularly produces high-value items that solve early resource shortages.

Focus on three types of catches:

  • Rare Fish: Sell valuable fish to quickly build a bankroll of several thousand gold pieces. Save transformation fish for your pet to boost its combat stats before diving into dungeon levels.
  • Jewelry and Gems: Equip rings and amulets that provide direct attribute boosts or elemental resistances. Retain socketable gems such as rubies, sapphires, and tourmalines for your weapons, and sell duplicate accessories.
  • Artifact Weapons: Town fishing can occasionally pull unique or artifact-grade weapons directly from the water, providing an immediate damage jump.

Continue fishing until you accumulate several thousand gold. This starting capital allows you to skip basic vendor equipment entirely.

Gamble for Over-Leveled Weapons

Once you have secured gold from fishing, spend it at the gambler vendor rather than standard merchants. Standard vendors offer basic white and green gear locked to your current level. The gambler sells unidentified mystery gear that has a chance to generate exceptional, rare, or unique items with stats well above normal floor drops.

Focus your purchases using these steps:

  1. Buy only your chosen primary weapon type, such as two-handed swords, dual daggers, or bows.
  2. Identify each piece immediately. Keep weapons that roll flat physical damage, elemental bonuses, life steal, or open sockets.
  3. Sell junk rolls back to merchants to recoup a portion of your gold, then continue gambling until you secure an elite roll.

A single rare weapon gamble with flat damage bonuses can easily carry your character through the first 15 dungeon floors.

Specialize Attributes and Weapon Skills

Avoid spreading your five attribute points per level evenly across all four stats. Distributing points evenly slows your damage output and delays your ability to equip top-tier gear. Instead, prioritize the stat requirements of your gambled weapons.

AttributePrimary Scaling ValueBuild Priority
StrengthMelee physical damage and heavy armor requirementsPrimary stat for melee builds; invest to meet top weapon requirements.
DexterityAttack rating, critical strike chance, and bow damagePrimary stat for archers; secondary stat for melee builds to avoid misses.
VitalityMaximum health pool and stamina recoverySecondary defensive stat; raise when monster burst damage threatens survival.
MagicMana pool and spellcasting potencyEssential for spellcasters; skip completely for martial builds.

Pair your attribute investments with a single weapon skill. If you roll a high-damage sword, place your skill points directly into Sword Skill and Critical Strike. Higher weapon skills increase attack speed, boost damage, and reduce the attack penalty against monsters that are higher level than your character.

Upgrade Gear and Maintain Dungeon Momentum

After securing a strong weapon and matching your stats to it, enter the dungeon and use these mechanics to sustain your progress:

  • Fill Weapon Sockets: Never leave sockets empty. Slotting low-tier rubies, sapphires, or tourmalines adds flat fire, ice, or lightning damage to every hit, bypassing high enemy armor values on early floors.
  • Use Enchanters and Anvils: Risk enchanting your main weapon at an enchanter or magic anvil once or twice to add bonus stats or open sockets. Stop enchanting after a couple of successes, as repeated attempts increase the risk of clearing all existing enchantments.
  • Send Your Pet to Town: Avoid casting Town Portal to sell common loot. Shift-click extra weapons and heavy armor into your pet's inventory, then select the pet action to send it back to town to sell the items. You can continue clearing the floor and collecting experience while your pet handles vendor trips.
