To clear dense enemy rooms and conserve limited flick charges in Flick Shot Rogues, position your character so that environmental hazards—such as explosive canisters or spike traps—sit directly between you and approaching foes. Enemy AI tracks your movements, so staying on the far side of a hazard forces enemies to walk straight into trap activation zones and barrel blast radii.
Identifying Hazard Types and Room Layouts
Before making your initial movement flick in a new room, assess the layout to locate force-multiplier elements. Environmental threats generally fall into two categories:
- Explosive Canisters and Barrels: Deal heavy area-of-effect damage when struck or triggered. Aiming for these allows you to wipe out dense groups of weaker targets in a single turn.
- Spike Traps and Spiked Walls: Trigger upon physical impact or contact. These deal direct damage to anything knocked into them.
Using an explosive barrel to eliminate a crowd saves multiple flick charges, leaving you with full resources to focus on elite enemies.
Baiting and Funneling Enemy Swarms
Because enemies path directly toward your current location, you can manipulate their movement by changing your position across the room.
- Position for Line-of-Sight Baiting: Move across the room so that the hazard sits along the straightest path between the enemy spawn point and your character.
- Funnel in Narrow Corridors: In rooms with choke points, stay at the end of the hallway behind a trap. Enemies will stack into tight lines as they attempt to reach you.
- Trigger the Reaction: Once the group clusters near the hazard, execute a single targeted flick to detonate the barrel or launch an enemy into the trap.
Controlling Velocity and Trajectories
Flick Shot Rogues relies on physics-based projectile movement, meaning launch velocity determines how hazards interact with enemies.
- Controlled Short Flicks: Use lower-velocity launches when nudging barrels into enemy groups. A flick with too much force can knock an explosive past the enemies before it detonates.
- Angled Deflections: Aim your launch to strike hazards at an angle. This allows your character to trigger the trap while deflecting toward a secondary target or safe landing point.
Managing Risks and Combat Limitations
Environmental hazards deal indiscriminate damage, creating specific failure points you must manage during a run:
- Self-Damage Risk: Detonating an explosive barrel near your landing area inflicts the same blast damage on your character as it does on enemies. Always calculate your trajectory to finish outside the explosion radius.
- Trap Recoil: Striking spiked walls at high speeds can bounce your character directly into follow-up hazard hits or enemy attacks.
- Boss Arena Constraints: Rooms without hazards or major boss encounters—such as the Frogomancer arena—offer static environments with minimal hazard support. You must upgrade your base flicking damage and movement stats to ensure you can clear rooms that lack interactive traps.

This guide answered the exact question I had.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
