During the Great Buildings Prestige migration in Forge of Empires, InnoGames uses automated scripts to audit every placed Great Building. If a building exceeds a rebalanced level cap or cost curve, the excess Forge Points, personal construction goods, and spent blueprints are returned directly to your inventory.
Buildings that fit within the new Prestige tier limits without exceeding caps continue operating normally with no refund triggered.
How Compensation Is Calculated
Refund values depend on whether an upgraded building crosses the newly restructured tier thresholds or benefits from cheaper level progression:
- Over-Cap Levels: If a Great Building exceeds the maximum level cap set for its tier, the excess levels roll back to that cap. The full Forge Point cost of the removed levels returns to your inventory as FP packages.
- Cost Difference Reductions: If an updated level requires fewer Forge Points than the legacy formula, the mathematical surplus is calculated and refunded to your inventory.
- Blueprint Rebalancing: Blueprints consumed to unlock refunded levels or simplified tier requirements return to your account inventory.
- Personal Construction Goods: Era goods spent directly by the city owner to unlock compressed Prestige tiers are restored to personal inventory.
- Guild Treasury Holdings: Goods already generated by support buildings such as The Arc, Observatory, or Atomium and deposited into the Guild Treasury remain in the guild vault; no retroactive treasury deductions take place.
Note: Payout calculations are refined during Beta testing before deploying to Live realms. Exact values remain subject to adjustment until the live rollout.
Investor Handling on In-Progress Levels
Incomplete Great Building levels face different migration rules depending on whether the target level sits above or below the new cap.
| In-Progress Scenario | Migration Action | Impact on Contributors and Owners |
|---|---|---|
| Level below the cap | Progress transfers into the new Prestige curve. | No loss. Contributors receive standard rank placement rewards once the level completes. |
| Level above the cap | The level forcibly closes and resets to the cap. | 100% of deposited Forge Points return to investor inventories. Reward chests are voided. |
| Owner self-contributions | Personal Forge Points on closed levels are refunded. | Contributed points convert directly back into inventory Forge Point packages. |
Because forcibly closed levels cancel reward chests, external contributors and 1.9 thread investors forfeit their rank bonuses, blueprints, and medaled reward packs, receiving only their base Forge Points back.
Next Steps to Prepare Your City
To minimize lost reward chests and protect your stockpiles ahead of the live migration, take these actions:
- Complete active levels with outside investors: Finish any open, heavily invested levels on your city grid before the update deploys so contributors receive their earned reward chests rather than a raw point refund.
- Pause spending on speculative high-level caps: Stop pushing non-essential Great Buildings near potential tier caps. Store daily production as inventory packs or redirect points into stable event buildings until live numbers are finalized.
- Preserve duplicate blueprints: Keep spare blueprints for core production and combat Great Buildings in reserve. Prestige tiers require duplicate blueprints to unlock higher-tier enhancements, making them more valuable kept in inventory than traded away.
