In Forge of Empires, advancing to Space Age: Titan allows you to unlock up to nine new city expansions. Each expansion adds a permanent 4x4 tile to your main city grid on the continental map; your off-world Titan colony operates on a completely separate, self-contained layout.
The nine available expansions are split evenly across three distinct acquisition paths:
| Expansion Source | Total Plots | Unlock Requirement | Resource / Cost Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Research Tree | 3 | Specific Space Age: Titan tech nodes | Forge Points, goods, coins, supplies |
| Campaign Map | 3 | Conquering designated Titan provinces | Combat units or negotiation goods |
| Premium Store | 3 | Space Age: Titan era unlock | Diamonds |
Securing these plots provides the square footage required to house the era's three massive Great Buildings: Saturn VI Gate CENTAURUS, Saturn VI Gate PEGASUS, and Saturn VI Gate HYDRA.
Research Tree Expansions
Three expansions are positioned directly inside the Space Age: Titan technology tree. Unlocking them requires substantial stockpiles of current-era Titan goods, prior-era goods, and Titan exploration materials produced in your colony, in addition to Forge Points.
To claim these three expansions efficiently:
- Locate the expansion nodes: Scan ahead on the Titan research tree to identify which specific branches contain expansion rewards before committing Forge Points to optional military or cultural branches.
- Fund colony exploration: Keep your colony synthesis and exploration sites active to ensure you have the required special Titan resources on hand.
- Pay the coin fee: Once an expansion technology is researched, open your building menu and pay the standard coin fee to place the 4x4 plot into your city grid.
Campaign Map Expansions
You obtain three expansions by conquering designated provinces across the Space Age: Titan continental campaign map. An expansion unlocks as soon as you capture every individual sector within an expansion-yielding province.
You can clear sectors through two methods:
- Combat: Defeat enemy armies using Titan-era military units supported by offensive Great Building boosts. Winning battles saves your goods for technology unlocks and Great Building construction.
- Negotiation: Settle sectors peacefully by spending era-specific goods. This route bypasses difficult military modifiers but consumes resources needed elsewhere in your progression.
Once the final sector of an expansion province is controlled, the expansion becomes immediately available in your city construction menu without any extra campaign goods cost.
Premium Diamond Expansions
Space Age: Titan adds three premium expansions that can be purchased only with Diamonds. These plots become available in your build menu as soon as you transition into the era, provided you have not reached the cumulative Diamond land cap from earlier ages.
If you prefer not to purchase Diamonds directly, target these reliable in-game acquisition sources:
- Guild Battlegrounds: Compete actively in higher leagues, where individual combat victories offer recurring chances to earn 25-Diamond bundles.
- Guild Expeditions: Complete Level 4 and Level 5 weekly to open high-tier milestone chests containing guaranteed or high-probability Diamond rewards.
- Recurring Quests: Cycle recurring quests while utilizing a high-level Château Frontenac to amplify Diamond payouts from story and side quest reward pools.
Grid Placement Strategy
Titan Great Buildings carry large footprints that require disciplined layout planning. When placing your new 4x4 expansions, attach them along existing arterial roads to create wide, rectangular zones rather than narrow, single-tile spurs. Consolidating your new expansions into uniform blocks minimizes wasted road tiles and gives you the continuous space needed to build CENTAURUS, PEGASUS, and HYDRA side by side.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Forge of Empires articles next.
This saved me time in the early game.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
This guide answered the exact question I had.
