Chrono’s Time Turner shield cannot reliably protect you from a direct hit by the Tailed Beast Ball in Free Fire. While the active skill absorbs standard bullet fire up to its durability cap, the Tailed Beast Ball deals extreme explosive burst damage. The blast instantly overpowers the shield's structural limit or bleeds through as area-of-effect (AoE) splash damage, knocking or eliminating players standing inside the dome.
To survive the attack, prioritize hard terrain cover, staggered Gloo Walls, and rapid repositioning rather than relying on stationary active shielding.
Why Time Turner Fails Against the Tailed Beast Ball
Chrono’s Time Turner creates a stationary spherical force field designed to absorb conventional ballistic fire from rifles, SMGs, and snipers. However, event jutsu attacks behave like heavy bombardment:
- Durability Overload: The raw burst damage of the projectile exceeds the maximum damage threshold of Chrono's barrier in a single hit, collapsing the shield instantly.
- Overflow Bleed-Through: Any surplus damage delivered past the barrier’s destruction point immediately transfers to the player inside.
- Narrow Shield Radius: Because the barrier has a compact radius, standing in the center does not put enough distance between your hitbox and the explosion point on the outer edge. Blast splash damage registers through the perimeter, damaging you even before the shield fully drops.
| Defensive Option | Performance vs. Gunfire | Performance vs. Tailed Beast Ball |
|---|---|---|
| Chrono Shield | High (blocks standard projectiles to cap) | Low (breaks instantly; splash bleeds through) |
| Single Gloo Wall | Moderate (blocks direct incoming fire) | Poor (shatters from direct explosive AoE) |
| Layered Gloo Walls | High (covers multiple firing angles) | Moderate (first wall absorbs hit, second blocks splash) |
| Hard Terrain Cover | Complete (unbreakable map geometry) | High (fully blocks trajectory and blast radius) |
How to Evade the Tailed Beast Ball
When you spot an opponent casting the Tailed Beast Ball, abandon static shields and take evasive action immediately.
1. Break Visual Line of Sight
The attack relies on clear line-of-sight targeting. Forcing the attacker to guess your movement often causes them to miss entirely.
- Sprint toward permanent structures such as brick buildings, concrete compound walls, or large stone formations.
- Run along diagonal trajectories rather than a straight line backward to throw off the projectile's lead angle.
- Dip into trenches, ridgelines, or depressions in the terrain to let natural ground absorb the detonation wave.
2. Deploy Staggered Gloo Walls
If caught in open terrain with no natural cover, a single Gloo Wall is rarely enough because the explosion radius wraps around the barrier.
- Place the first Gloo Wall directly toward the incoming attack to absorb the primary impact.
- Step back several paces and place a second Gloo Wall behind the first.
- Crouch behind the rear wall to keep splash damage from reaching your hitbox.
Recommended Character Adjustments
If your lobby frequently uses the Tailed Beast Ball, swapping to mobility or survival skills provides better protection than Chrono:
- Tatsuya: Rapid forward dashes allow you to exit the blast indicator before the projectile lands.
- Kelly or Alok: Passive and active sprint buffs provide the baseline movement speed needed to sprint clear of the targeting zone.
- Luqueta or Antonio: Additional health pool buffs give you a safety buffer to survive peripheral splash damage if caught on the outer edge of the explosion.
- Homer: Releasing Homer's drone directly at the casting enemy disrupts their targeting speed and movement, throwing off the attack's timing.

Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
