To scale your warband with Lord Jaraxxus in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, spend one gold on his Hero Power, Bloodfury, to have a friendly Demon consume a chosen minion in the Tavern. Rather than buying units outright for three gold, use shop-buffing minions to inflate Tavern stats, then feed those boosted minions directly to your core board anchors.

How to Use the Bloodfury Hero Power

Bloodfury costs one gold and directs a friendly Demon to eat a selected minion from Bob’s Tavern, absorbing its raw Attack and Health. This provides an immediate stat boost at a fraction of the gold required to buy and play cards.

To maximize Bloodfury efficiency:

  • Focus on permanent anchors: Direct consumed stats into combat-ready Demons with survivability keywords, such as Taunt, Reborn, or Divine Shield.
  • Avoid stat dilution: Do not spend gold feeding temporary minions that will be sold in subsequent turns.
  • Curate the Tavern: If multiple minions are available, leave the target with the highest combined Attack and Health for Bloodfury before purchasing other units or freezing the board.

Prepping Tavern Stats for Consumption

Consuming baseline Tavern minions falls off in the late game. To keep pace with competing boards, you must pump the stats of minions inside the Tavern before consuming them.

Engine StageTavern TierCore ObjectiveKey Cards and Mechanics
Early GameTiers 2–3Health stabilization and shop buffingSoul Rewinder negates self-damage; Felemental adds permanent Attack and Health to future Tavern minions.
Mid GameTier 4Stat amplification and consumptionUr'zul consumes Tavern minions upon playing Demons; Floating Watcher scales off self-damage.
Late GameTiers 5–6Board-wide automationFamished Felbat consumes remaining Tavern minions at the end of every turn.

Felemental is the key driver of this strategy. Each Felemental trigger permanently increases the stats of all future minions that spawn in Bob's Tavern. Once the shop consistently spawns units with inflated stats, Bloodfury and passive eating mechanics absorb massive value for minimal gold investment.

Key Demon Synergies

A functional Demon board requires protection against self-damage alongside its stat-consumption tools:

  1. Soul Rewinder: Mandatory for mitigating self-inflicted damage caused by Demon Battlecries and combat effects. It rewinds incoming damage to keep your hero total above lethal thresholds.
  2. Ur'zul: Consumes a minion from the Tavern whenever you play a Demon. Combining Ur'zul's passive eating with Bloodfury lets you strip the best stats out of the Tavern each round.
  3. Famished Felbat: Automates end-of-turn scaling by forcing your Demons to feed on whatever minions remain in the shop.
  4. Tribe Density: Maintain at least four to five true Demons on your board so that passive distribution effects from cards like Famished Felbat hit valid targets.

Leveling Pace and Gold Curve

Lord Jaraxxus relies on having minions on board to receive buffs, so avoid fast-leveling curves that leave your side of the board empty.

  • Turns 1–3: Buy baseline units and advance to Tier 2 on turn two (4 gold). Use Bloodfury only when floating an extra gold alongside a high-stat shop target.
  • Turns 4–6: Stabilize on Tiers 2 and 3 while searching for Soul Rewinder and Felemental.
  • Tier 4 and 5 Spikes: Push to Tier 4 once your health is secure. Tiers 4 and 5 contain the core Demon package, including Ur'zul and Famished Felbat. Remain on these tiers to consolidate your board rather than rushing to Tier 6.

Combat Positioning Against Endgame Scam

High-stat Demon boards are vulnerable to "scam" tech such as Venomous minions and Leeroy Jenkins. Position your units to prevent your highest-stat Demons from dying to single hits:

  1. Lead Offhand (Far Left): Place a secondary Taunt, Reborn unit, or Divine Shield minion first to absorb opening hits, break enemy shields, and remove Venomous effects.
  2. Primary Behemoths (Second and Third): Position your largest Bloodfury-buffed Demons and Ur'zul to attack once the opponent's initial frontline blockers have traded.
  3. Protected Engines (Far Right): Place critical support minions like Soul Rewinder and Famished Felbat at the back of your lineup so they survive the combat phase and continue generating value.
