To run a Sky Golem Deathrattle build in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, place your Sky Golem in your leftmost attacking slot and tuck Titus Rivendare into your far-right slot. This sequence forces Sky Golem to attack and die first, immediately freeing up board space so its Deathrattle can summon fresh minions without hitting the seven-minion warband cap.
Optimal Board Order
Because Hearthstone resolves attacks from left to right, your minion order determines whether summoned tokens fit onto the board and whether your reset engines trigger properly.
| Board Slot | Assigned Role | Primary Function |
|---|---|---|
| Slot 1 (Far Left) | Primary Deathrattle (Sky Golem) | Attacks first, dies immediately, and opens board space. |
| Slot 2 | Secondary Deathrattle / Reset Unit | Attacks next to benefit from refreshed Divine Shields. |
| Slots 3–4 | Mid-Range Mechs / Cleave Buffers | Sustains mid-combat pressure and trades into enemy boards. |
| Slots 5–6 | Defensive Taunt Minions | Directs incoming attacks away from key backline units. |
| Slot 7 (Far Right) | Multiplier Engine (Titus Rivendare) | Remains protected to double or triple Deathrattle triggers. |
Summoned minions spawn immediately to the right of the slot where Sky Golem died. Giving Sky Golem Taunt or positioning it first ensures it takes or initiates the opening trade. Placing Divine Shield reset units—such as Deflect-o-Bot—in Slot 2 guarantees they can attack immediately after new Mechs replenish their shields.
Managing Board Space and Token Limits
Hearthstone Battlegrounds caps every warband at seven active minions. If a Deathrattle triggers while all seven slots are occupied, any excess summoned units are permanently lost.
When paired with Titus Rivendare, Sky Golem attempts to summon multiple minions simultaneously from a single death. If only Sky Golem dies and no other friendly slots are empty, only one summoned minion will fit on the board; subsequent summons vanish.
To ensure your summons resolve completely:
- Keep primary Taunts low on health: Ensure your early Taunt minions have low enough health to die on the opponent's opening hit, creating open board space before your Deathrattles resolve.
- Avoid Reborn on multi-token summoners: Reborn units compete for the exact slot that the minion just vacated, which blocks the incoming Deathrattle summons from spawning.
- Field a six-minion board with Golden Titus: If running a Golden Titus Rivendare, entering combat with six minions instead of seven guarantees two open slots on your very first attack, preventing wasted tokens.
Core Synergies
A summon-heavy setup requires specific support units to turn low-stat tokens into continuous combat value.
Titus Rivendare
Titus Rivendare makes friendly Deathrattles trigger an additional time, or twice more if Golden. Sky Golem benefits heavily from this multiplier, dropping consecutive waves of minions into the combat queue from a single death event. Titus must remain protected on the far right to stay alive throughout the entire combat phase.
Deflect-o-Bot
Deflect-o-Bot regains Divine Shield whenever a friendly Mech is summoned during combat. Because Sky Golem drops new Mechs during the attack phase, Deflect-o-Bot repeatedly refreshes its shield mid-fight, allowing it to trade down high-stat enemy targets without taking permanent damage.
Positioning Against Late-Game Tech
Token builds struggle if the enemy eliminates your backline multiplier before your Deathrattles trigger. Adjust your setup in the final rounds to protect against specific threats:
- Cleave Protection: Never position Titus Rivendare directly next to a minion with Taunt. Place Taunts in Slots 5 and 6, keeping non-Taunted filler between your front line and Titus to prevent splash damage.
- Sniper and Windfury Defense: Use Stealth effects or place an off-stat decoy on the far right to absorb redirect hits or backline snipes.
- Endgame Replacements: If mid-game Mechs fall off in stats during the final rounds, replace expendable middle units with targeted tech pieces like Venomous minions or Leeroy the Reckless while keeping your core Sky Golem, Titus, and Deflect-o-Bot engine intact.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Hearthstone articles next.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
This saved me time in the early game.
