To win with Quest Priest in Hearthstone, cast the 1-cost Questline Seek Guidance on Turn 1, systematically play cards across three strict mana brackets, and deploy Xyrella, the Sanctified to shuffle and cast the game-ending Purified Shard. Surviving enemy pressure takes priority over advancing the Questline on curve, so you must pace your board clears while filling each mana requirement.

Seek Guidance Questline Progression

Completing Seek Guidance requires playing cards of specific mana costs in strict numerical order across three sequential phases:

  1. Phase 1: Play a 2-Cost, 3-Cost, and 4-Cost card.
  • Reward: Discover a card from your deck.
  1. Phase 2: Play a 5-Cost and 6-Cost card.
  • Reward: Discover a card from your deck.
  1. Phase 3: Play a 7-Cost and 8-Cost card.
  • Reward: Add Xyrella, the Sanctified to your hand.

Use the Discover rewards from Phase 1 and Phase 2 defensively or to bridge mana gaps. If your hand lacks a 5-cost or 6-cost play entering Phase 2, use the Phase 1 Discover reward to select the missing cost bracket from your deck.

Mana Curve Management and Card Replacements

Because balance updates and emergency card bans can temporarily restrict specific synergy cards or deck enablers, verify active card legality in your deck list before queuing. If a card in your list is banned, replace it with an alternative in the exact same mana cost tier to preserve the deck's sequencing math.

Mana Cost TierStandard RoleReplacement Options During Card Restrictions
2-CostEarly cycle, targeted removal, DiscoverTargeted card draw, Armor gain, early Taunts
3-CostHand disruption, targeted healingTradeable defensive spells, board ping minions
4-CostSingle-target removal, board stabilizationSilence effects, Holy area-of-effect spells
5-Cost & 6-CostMidrange sweepers, sustained recoveryHeavy Taunt minions, multi-target clears
7-Cost & 8-CostFull board wipes, high-threat minionsHigh-cost Holy resets, heavy restoration spells

Mid-Game Sequencing and Survival Rules

Do not rush quest progress at the expense of your life total:

  • Manage the Coin: Save the Coin for awkward transition turns—such as jumping to a crucial 6-cost clear on Turn 5—rather than burning it early just to complete the 2-cost requirement.
  • Prioritize Board Clears Over Milestones: If an opponent presents lethal or severe board pressure, play multiple low-cost removal tools instead of an awkward 7-cost or 8-cost card. Delaying Phase 3 by one turn keeps you alive; committing mana to an off-tempo play without clearing the board will lose the game.
  • Cycle Tradeable Cards: If your hand contains duplicate costs or lacks the next required tier, cycle Tradeable tools early to dig for the next bracket.

Executing the Purified Shard Win Condition

After completing Phase 3, close out the match through a two-step process:

  1. Deploy Xyrella, the Sanctified: Spend 5 mana to summon Xyrella (a 7/7 minion). Her Battlecry shuffles the Purified Shard into your deck.
  2. Tutor the Shard: Xyrella shuffles the Shard into the deck but does not draw it. Retain a targeted card-draw spell—such as a Holy spell tutor—to draw the Purified Shard directly into your hand on the following turn.
  3. Cast the Purified Shard: The Purified Shard is a 10-cost Holy spell that instantly destroys the enemy hero. Dedicate a full 10-mana turn to cast it, ensuring that you enter that turn safely out of the opponent's lethal range.
