To pilot Rainbow Death Knight in Hearthstone, secure the early board with disposable token minions to rapidly build a Corpse pool, spend those Corpses on mid-game threats like Corpse Bride to discount Stitched Giants, and stabilize with high-impact swings from Reska, the Pit Boss and The Primus before closing matches with The Headless Horseman.
Mulligan Priorities
Keep low-cost token generators to contest early boards and fuel your Corpse counter.
| Card | Mana Cost | Matchup Priority | Primary Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miracle Salesman | 1 | Always Keep | Early tempo and trade fodder |
| Mining Casualties | 2 | Always Keep | Generates multiple bodies and fast Corpses |
| Dreadhound Handler | 2 | High Priority | Early board contest and Corpse generation |
| Quartzite Crusher | 4 | Keep vs. Aggro / Weapons | Freezes key threats and restores Health |
| Maw and Paw | 4 | Keep vs. Control | Generates Corpses and raises maximum Health |
| The Headless Horseman | 6 | Always Mulligan Away | Late-game attrition value, too slow in hand |
Against aggressive decks, keep defensive tools and Quartzite Crusher to neutralize weapon attacks and heal through incoming damage. Against control decks, keep Maw and Paw or an early Corpse Bride if you already hold turn-one or turn-two token generators.
Corpse Management and Stitched Giant Timing
Stitched Giant costs one less mana for each Corpse spent during the game. Managing your Corpse economy correctly allows you to deploy heavy stats ahead of curve:
- Generate Corpses early: Use Mining Casualties and Dreadhound Handler to flood the board. Trade these tokens off aggressively to fill your pool.
- Avoid minor spenders early: Do not consume Corpses on small stat buffs if doing so delays reaching eight Corpses by turn five.
- Execute the Corpse Bride swing: On turn five, play Corpse Bride to consume up to eight Corpses. This summons a 4/4 minion alongside a Risen Golem (up to 8/8 in stats).
- Deploy cheap Stitched Giants: Spending eight Corpses on Corpse Bride reduces Stitched Giant's cost significantly. Combine this with earlier Corpse spending to drop Stitched Giants for zero to two mana on turns five or six, forcing opponents to answer multiple massive threats simultaneously.
Navigating Swing Turns with Reska and The Primus
Reska, the Pit Boss and The Primus serve as your primary tools to flip board control.
Reska, the Pit Boss
Reska starts at 20 mana and discounts by one mana each time a friendly minion dies. Because your early game relies on trading cheap tokens, Reska's cost drops rapidly into playable range by the mid-game.
- Target priority: Use Reska to steal high-value enemy targets, such as Titans, large Deathrattle minions, or Taunt walls.
- Guaranteeing the Deathrattle: Rush Reska into an enemy minion that deals lethal damage to Reska on the same turn. If the target cannot kill Reska directly, pair Reska with cheap removal or damage to ensure the Deathrattle triggers before the opponent can silence or transform it.
The Primus
The Primus offers three modal abilities tailored to specific board states:
- Runes of Blood: Destroys an enemy minion and transfers Health to The Primus and your hero. Use this against single tall threats to raise your maximum Health out of burst range.
- Runes of Frost: Deals area-of-effect damage across the enemy board and discounts your next spell. Use this to clear wide boards and chain into cheap removal.
- Runes of Unholy: Summons an Undead minion that inherits stats based on existing board state. Use this to establish board presence when threatening lethal damage.
Closing Matches with The Headless Horseman
Deploy The Headless Horseman against midrange and control opponents to transition into late-game attrition:
- Battlecry removal: Playing the hero card immediately destroys the enemy minion with the highest Health and shuffles the Horseman's Head into your deck. Do not play this card into a wide token board, as single-target destruction will not protect your life total.
- Base Hero Power: Your hero power becomes a two-damage ping capable of targeting any enemy minion or the enemy hero.
- Upgraded Hero Power: Once you draw the Horseman's Head from your deck, the hero power upgrades to deal three damage and Discovers an Undead minion each turn. Use this continuous stream of Undead resources and direct damage to close out long games without exhausting your hand.
