To defeat the Demon Lord's Left and Right Eyes in Hero Emblems II, lock onto and eliminate one eye before damaging the other. Splitting your damage leaves both countdown timers active, overwhelming your party with overlapping physical attacks, magic burst damage, and board-locking status effects. Prioritize building your Defense Points (DP) before incoming strikes hit, and assemble four- and five-tile matches to generate skill emblems and Ultra Emblems to burst down your target.
Target Priority and Combat Phases
At the start of the battle, immediately tap one eye to direct all basic attacks and single-target skills toward it. Removing one eye cuts incoming enemy actions in half, eliminating synchronized strikes and making incoming damage manageable for your healer.
| Combat Phase | Objective | Board Action |
|---|---|---|
| Opening Phase | Lock onto a single target eye | Set up 4-tile and 5-tile matches |
| Burst Phase | Break the target's DP gauge | Trigger skill emblems and Ultra Emblems |
| Defense & Recovery | Maintain DP and heal HP bleed-through | Match shield and heart emblems before timers hit zero |
| Cleanup Phase | Eliminate the remaining solo eye | Maintain continuous 3-matches and cycle skills |
Focusing on the eye with the shorter countdown timer or the more disruptive debuffs prevents your puzzle board from becoming paralyzed by simultaneous hazards.
Managing DP and Incoming Damage
Enemy strikes cut through your DP gauge before draining actual Health Points (HP). If your DP reaches zero, subsequent attacks hit your raw HP pool directly, risking party wipes.
- Match shields preemptively: Do not wait for your DP to break completely. Make shield matches when an eye's countdown timer shows one or two turns remaining.
- Create defensive boosters: Matching four shield emblems generates upgraded defense tiles that provide stronger barrier reinforcement against consecutive attacks.
- Keep heals ready: If incoming attacks punch through your DP shield, immediately match heart emblems or trigger cleric skills to restore health before the next countdown ends.
- Plan a turn ahead: When both eyes have synchronized or consecutive countdowns, prepare defense tiles on the grid so you can trigger them right before the attacks land.
Creating Ultra Emblems and Clearing Board Hazards
Standard three-tile matches deal minimal damage against the eyes' high defensive ratings. To break their defense gauges quickly, you must create high-tier emblem matches:
- Four-Tile Line Matches: Lining up four matching emblems horizontally or vertically creates a hero-specific skill emblem. Activating this unleashes an offensive ability.
- Five-Tile Ultra Matches: Connecting five emblems in a straight line, T-shape, or L-shape creates an Ultra Emblem.
- Chaining Combos: Detonating an Ultra Emblem alongside an active attack buff or another skill emblem triggers a board-wide cascade that chunks down the boss's DP while restoring skill MP.
In addition to direct attacks, both eyes inflict board hazards such as frozen, chained, or cursed tiles. These hazards restrict movement and prevent you from forming matches. Whenever hazard tiles appear, make adjacent matches immediately to shatter the locks, keeping the board clear so new emblems continue to fall from the top.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Hero Emblems II articles next.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
This saved me time in the early game.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
