To beat Greenlands Level 1 in Hexapolis - Civilization game, level up your capital on Turn 1 by harvesting adjacent resources and choosing a gold reward, then scout the fog with your starting warrior and build a mixed melee-and-ranged force to capture the enemy capital hex. Wait to spend any remaining starting gold until scouting reveals the resources inside your territory.

Turn 1: Capital Level-Up and Scouting

  1. Inspect adjacent capital hexes: Before moving units or spending gold, check the tiles directly bordering your capital for harvestable resources like wild fruit or accessible terrain features.
  2. Upgrade your capital to Level 2: Harvest those adjacent resources to gain the exact experience needed to level up your settlement.
  3. Select an economy reward: When prompted for a Level 2 milestone reward, choose an immediate gold bonus or increased gold per turn rather than defensive perks. Early revenue funds technology purchases and extra troop training on later turns.
  4. Move your starting warrior: Step toward the outer edge of your visual boundary onto high ground or open plains to maximize line of sight across adjacent hexes.
  5. Hold remaining gold: Do not spend leftover gold on map actions until your scout reveals the surrounding terrain.

While scouting the fog of war, prioritize two targets:

  • Unclaimed villages: Capturing neutral settlements grants lump-sum gold or free territorial expansion for a secondary base.
  • Enemy borders: Spotting the rival tribe's red boundary lines early reveals their movement corridors before they reach your capital.

Do not move your warrior into dense forests or unfamiliar choke points at the end of its movement range. Triggering an ambush without backup exposes your scout to counterattacks and wastes turns healing instead of claiming neutral land.

Turns 2–3: Technology Priorities

Match your early research directly to the tiles inside your borders and the proximity of enemy patrols rather than buying speculative upgrades.

TechnologyPrimary UnlocksWhen to Research
Foraging / AgricultureFruit harvesting, farm constructionTurn 1–2 if multiple food tiles border your city
WoodcuttingClear forests, build lumber huts / campsTurn 2–3 when expanding into timber-rich woodland for instant production bursts or recurring income
Archery / WarfareRanged units, improved melee strengthImmediately after spotting enemy warriors patrolling nearby borders

Ranged units from Archery are especially valuable in border skirmishes because they deal damage from a distance without taking retaliation attacks.

Army Formation and City Siege

Recruit a second combat unit as soon as your Level 2 capital generates steady turn-by-turn income. Alternate between melee warriors and ranged attackers so you can handle both field defense and city sieges.

  • Advance in formation: Move melee units in pairs, or position an archer directly behind a lead warrior. Melee units absorb strikes and retaliate on the frontline while ranged units attack safely from behind.
  • Heal instead of replacing: If a unit drops below half health, retreat it one tile behind your defensive line and use the rest action. Healing costs fewer resources than training a replacement, saving gold for late-stage city development.

Winning Greenlands Level 1 requires capturing the opposing civilization's main city hex. Do not attack the city with a lone warrior, as fortified defenders receive defensive bonuses. Instead, follow this siege sequence:

  1. Surround the enemy capital: Move your units onto the hexes adjacent to the city to cut off enemy movement.
  2. Clear the garrison: Use ranged units to wear down the defending garrison over one or two turns without taking counterattack damage.
  3. Occupy the central hex: Once the defender is eliminated, move your healthiest melee unit onto the city tile.
  4. Hold for one full turn: Keep supporting troops around the city to intercept wandering enemies until the start of your next turn, which completes the capture and clears the stage.
