In How Many Dudes?, Frankendude functions as an escalating carry who gains stats from the defeat of nearby friendly units. To run him effectively, place him in your second row directly behind cheap, expendable frontline units and summoners. This protects him during the opening seconds of a round while ensuring fallen allies die within his collection radius to fuel his health, size, and damage.
How Frankendude Scales
Frankendude begins each round vulnerable at base statistics. Whenever an allied unit dies within his combat radius, Frankendude triggers an empowerment cycle. Each trigger grants:
- Increased size: His character model expands as he absorbs fallen allies.
- Maximum health: His health pool expands dynamically throughout the round.
- Offensive scaling: His attack value ramps up with every allied casualty.
Because his scaling relies entirely on friendly turnover, building durable, high-armor frontlines actively slows down his empowerment. Your goal is to cycle cheap casualties as quickly as possible.
Arena Positioning
Positioning determines whether Frankendude survives long enough to ramp into an endgame threat.
- Place Frankendude in the second row, dead center. Putting him on the absolute front line exposes him to immediate boss burst and incoming swarms before any allies fall. Second-row placement lets the initial enemy wave hit your sacrifices first.
- Pack sacrificial units directly in front of him. A dense front wall forces incoming swarms to crash into your fodder immediately. Frankendude can step forward into the fray fully empowered once the front row collapses.
- Keep your formation horizontally tight. Frankendude's absorption radius is limited. Spreading fodder wide across the arena causes distant allies to die outside his collection range, wasting potential stat gains.
Team Composition and Synergies
A balanced Frankendude team combines quick-dying frontline units with renewable summons and modest backline support.
| Unit Category | Board Role | Frankendude Synergy |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 Melee / Basic Dudes | Frontline sacrifices | Die instantly to grant early health and attack spikes |
| Summoners (Skeletons / Zombies) | Mid-fight wave generation | Provide renewable corpses that trigger absorption without shop costs |
| Aggressive Brawlers | Short-range disruption | Rush incoming clusters and perish directly at Frankendude's feet |
| Defensive Buffers | Carry protection | Provide targeted mitigation to keep Frankendude alive early |
| Backline Ranged DPS | Cleanup damage | Pick off remaining elites after Frankendude engages |
Item and Draft Priorities
When drafting upgrades and items between rounds, prioritize stats that enhance Frankendude’s ramped base values or keep him alive during his initial phase:
- Attack Speed: Frankendude accumulates massive flat attack power from fallen allies. Percentage-based and flat attack speed allow him to swing rapidly and clear dense waves.
- Area-of-Effect Cleave: Cleave multiplies his elevated attack power across entire clusters of enemies.
- Life Leech: Leech scales off his heavy damage output and keeps his enlarged health pool topped off during prolonged boss fights.
- Damage Resistance: Flat mitigation helps him survive early rush damage before his health pool scales.
Avoid buying heavy armor or defensive survivability items for your sacrificial melee units. Extending the lifespan of your fodder delays Frankendude's damage ramp.
Common Failure Points
- Early-Round Burst: High-mobility rushers or piercing attacks can bypass your front wall and eliminate Frankendude in the first five seconds. Ensure your frontline wall is dense enough to catch rushers.
- Over-Clearing from Range: If your ranged backline units deal too much damage too quickly, they may eliminate incoming enemies before they reach your melee line. If your fodder never dies, Frankendude enters boss phases with base stats. Keep backline damage secondary to melee turnover.
- Depleted Benches: Non-summoned fodder units must be replaced between rounds. Maintain enough gold and bench capacity so you never enter a difficult round without a sacrificial screen.
