To scale your fishing yields in IdleOn - Idle RPG, use a dedicated Barbarian talent preset, equip the highest fishing rod your skill level allows, and invest in Strength-scaling Alchemy bubbles. Fishing provides critical account-wide crafting and alchemy ingredients such as Goldfish and Bloaches, but catch rates drop significantly at deeper pool depths unless you meet their efficiency thresholds.

Dedicated Barbarian Fishing Talents

Never fish using a combat talent build. Warriors and Barbarians scale fishing efficiency directly from their total Strength stat, so configure a dedicated skilling preset across your talent tabs.

Tab 1 (Warrior)

  • Fist of Rage: Raises base Strength, providing the foundational stat that scales your base fishing efficiency.
  • Idle Skilling: Increases your base AFK gain rate, directly increasing resource yields while offline.

Tab 2 (Barbarian)

  • Worming Undercover: Grants direct fishing efficiency to help reach threshold requirements for deeper fish.
  • Bobbin' Bobber: Increases fishing experience gain and fishing speed, speeding up the path to higher rod requirements.
  • Catching Some Zzz's: Adds flat base efficiency specifically during AFK sessions.
  • Strongest Stat: Adds additional Strength per point invested, boosting the Tab 1 scaling multiplier.

Fishing Rod Progression and Depth Requirements

Equipped fishing rods provide substantial base skill power. Sticking with an early Copper Fishing Rod severely limits your catch rate because pool depth requirements outpace entry-level tool stats.

  • Iron Fishing Rod: Requires Fishing Level 10. Craft and equip this immediately once eligible to handle shallow and mid-depth pools.
  • Gold Fishing Rod: Requires Fishing Level 20. Essential for establishing reliable catch rates on deep-water targets like Hermit Cans and Bloaches.

Tool level requirements depend on individual Fishing skill levels rather than character combat levels. If your Barbarian lacks the level required for the next rod tier, farm skilling experience on the shallowest pool catching Goldfish before attempting deeper fish. You can also apply Armor Upgrade Stones directly to skilling tools to add flat bonus stats.

Alchemy Bubbles and Town Stamps

Raw talent points eventually hit diminishing returns, requiring account-wide multipliers from World 2 Alchemy and stamps to reach double and triple catch rates.

Orange Alchemy BubbleWyrmbaDirectly increases fishing efficiency and catch rewards.
Town StampFishhead StampAdds flat fishing efficiency across all characters.

Cycle a portion of your caught fish directly back into upgrading Wyrmba to sustain an ongoing efficiency loop.

Cards, Baits, and Pool Depths

Each fishing pool tier targets different depths: Goldfish and Small Fry sit at shallow levels, while Hermit Cans and Bloaches require lines cast into deeper water. Reaching the necessary catch chance on deeper targets requires stacking specific card bonuses and consumable gear:

  • Goldfish Card: Grants bonus fishing efficiency percentages.
  • Crabby Card: Increases overall fishing AFK gain rate.
  • Hermit Can Card: Boosts fishing experience gain to reach tool milestones faster.
  • Bait and Lines: Equip your highest-tier line from the pool menu to reach deeper species, and use bait to add temporary efficiency or double-catch chances.

How to Snapshot Fish with the 3D Printer

Once your Barbarian achieves steady catch rates with an Iron or Gold Rod, transition your passive fish collection to the World 3 Construction 3D Printer so your Barbarian can return to combat progression.

  1. Activate your Barbarian's dedicated fishing talent preset.
  2. Equip your highest-tier fishing rod, fishing card set, and any efficiency foods.
  3. Equip your best line and bait at the desert fishing docks.
  4. Open the 3D Printer sampling tool, select the target fish pool (such as Bloaches), and record the sample snapshot.

Once saved, the 3D Printer generates passive fish hourly based on the recorded rate, allowing you to sustain cauldron upgrades without keeping your character stationed at the docks.
