When entering World 4 in IdleOn - Idle RPG, your immediate action is to push every character to map four (Wandering Caravan) to unlock their Elite Class before placing anyone inside the Laboratory. Locking characters into the Laboratory console too early stalls your damage, talent point caps, and passive town production across your entire account.
Step 1: Unlock Elite Classes at the Outcast NPC
Do not leave your roster in town or station them in Laboratory tubes upon arriving in World 4. The portal kill requirements and damage thresholds for the first four maps are low compared to later zones. Push every character through to the Wandering Caravan map and speak with the Outcast NPC to complete their promotion quests:
- Warriors promote into Blood Berserker or Divine Knight.
- Archers promote into Siege Breaker or Beast Master.
- Mages promote into Bubonic Conjuror or Elemental Sorcerer.
Elite Classes expand talent trees, introduce active respawn and multi-kill mechanics, and provide specialized skill perks—such as the Blood Berserker's passive Cooking buffs. Allocating these base talent points immediately accelerates combat scaling and resource gathering.
Step 2: Connect Key Mainframe Nodes in the Laboratory
Once Elite Classes are unlocked, begin utilizing the Laboratory. Characters placed in the Laboratory generate a connection beam based on their Line Width, linking Mainframe Jewels and Nodes across the board to grant account-wide buffs.
Never put your entire roster into the Laboratory at once. Keep at least one designated pusher climbing World 4 maps. Equip characters stationed in the Lab with Line Width bonuses from Laboratory shoes, rings, and console upgrades so you can connect high-value nodes using as few bodies as possible.
| Laboratory Node | Node Effect | Progression Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Killer's Brightside | Doubles kill count toward opening portal doors | Connect first to cut portal thresholds in half for your active climber. |
| No-Bubble Left Behind | Upgrades your lowest-level Alchemy bubbles daily | High account value; triggers automatically at the daily reset. |
| Wired In | Doubles 3D Printer production for connected units | Link characters actively sampling critical crafting resources. |
| Spelunker Phial | Multiplies cooking speed based on active jewels | Connect once basic spice territories and early recipes are unlocked. |
Step 3: Secure Breeding Spices to Feed Cooking
Cooking upgrades are directly gated by the spices gathered through Breeding. Letting eggs sit at full capacity in the incubator halts your progress. Hatch eggs steadily, spend pet DNA to boost incubator speeds and breed chance multipliers, and build structured Territory battle teams rather than relying on raw pet combat power:
- Front-line Tanks/Shields: Absorb incoming hits while ability timers charge.
- Damage Dealers: High-frequency attackers to clear enemy health pools.
- Utility Buffers: Pets offering cooldown reduction and healing to sustain the front line.
Target Territory battles that drop the exact spices required for your current kitchen upgrade thresholds. Neglecting pet territory battles starves your kitchens of the ingredients required to unlock additional meal tables and high-tier recipes.
Step 4: Invest in Kitchen Speed Before Recipe Discovery
A common trap in Cooking is burning ladles on recipe discovery attempts with low success rates (below 10%). Finding a new recipe without adequate kitchen infrastructure wastes valuable ladles and slows your Cooking level growth.
- Invest in speed and fire first: Spend your initial ladles and coins on kitchen speed and fire bonuses. Faster cooking speeds award more Cooking experience, boosting your ladle yield.
- Level starter meals: Maximize early dishes like Eggs and Salad to secure baseline skilling efficiency and base damage boosts for your roster.
- Leverage the Blood Berserker: Use the Blood Berserker's passive talents to generate ladles, stockpiling them for high-percentage discovery pushes and key meal level milestones.
Step 5: Concentrate Gear on Your Active Climber
Later World 4 maps like Clammies and Octodar enforce steep accuracy and defense checks. Attempting to craft top-tier World 4 armor sets for all ten characters at the same time will exhaust your anvil production, bar reserves, and rare monster drops.
Characters stationed inside the Laboratory do not take damage, do not interact with map accuracy requirements, and gain Laboratory experience regardless of what they wear. Strip weapons, key rings, and high-defense armor from lab-bound units. Funnel your best upgrade stones, equipment, and accuracy cards directly onto your active pusher until the World 4 boss portal is cleared.
