Illusion Connect: Re on PC is a character-collection RPG built around real-time tactical battles, team building, and the relationships you develop with a large cast of Radiants. The story asks you to step back into a world where your adventure has already begun, reconnecting with the heroes who fought beside you while facing new encounters, memories, and challenges. Your primary role is to lead these companions against powerful Nightmares, making decisions during combat rather than simply watching a fixed sequence play out. The game’s current content also gives returning and active players concrete goals to pursue, including the Mermaid’s Hideaway event, the opportunity to summon SSR Elena, competition in Ares’ Battlefield S1, and Elementium Rank progression for breaking past existing limits.

The central loop begins with forming a team from a roster of more than 130 illustrated characters. Each hero has distinct abilities, personalities, and battle roles, so building a reliable lineup means considering how their strengths work together rather than treating every character as interchangeable. Once a battle starts, you direct your heroes in real time, shift formations, and combine their abilities to overcome increasingly dangerous Nightmares. That makes timing and positioning important parts of the experience: you may need to adjust your formation as the fight changes, select the right character for the situation, and keep track of the information presented across the battlefield. A larger PC display is particularly useful here because it gives you more room to follow hero positions, recognize changing combat details, and make formation decisions without the visual crowding of a smaller screen. Keyboard-and-mouse input can also make repeated selections, menu navigation, and roster management feel more deliberate when you are reviewing a deep collection of characters or preparing a squad for another encounter. Outside combat, progression extends through the bonds you form with your companions. Spending time with them can deepen those relationships and unlock new abilities, giving the social side of the game a direct connection to your team’s growth. You can also create a personal retreat by decorating your dream home with furniture and wallpapers, providing a quieter management and customization activity between battles. The result is a structure that connects summoning, tactical combat, character development, and home decoration: you collect Radiants, learn how their roles fit together, improve them through progression and deeper bonds, then return to battles and seasonal challenges with a more capable team. The expressive Live2D animation and performances from a prominent Japanese voice cast, including Ai Kayano, Yui Ishikawa, Maaya Uchida, Ayane Sakura, Saori Hayami, and Natsuki Hanae, reinforce the focus on individual companions while keeping the adventure centered on the choices you make as their leader.
