To beat the Data Breach mission in Iron Marines+, position your frontline several paces ahead of the data terminal at natural choke points, deploy armor-piercing ranged units behind a sturdy frontline, and hold hero cooldowns for dense enemy waves. The terminal has a fixed health pool and fails the mission if destroyed, so your primary goal is intercepting attackers before they enter firing range of the objective.

Establish a Forward Defense

Do not position your units directly on top of the data console. Enemy walkers, suicide units, and artillery deal splash damage that transfers directly onto the terminal if defenders stand adjacent to it.

  1. Push to the choke points: Move your frontline units forward into the narrow entry lanes leading toward the terminal.
  2. Body-block the main lane: Station your hero and melee units in the central corridor, which handles the heaviest concentration of durable ground enemies.
  3. Cover the secondary flank: Place a long-range squad within sight of the side lane to pick off fast raiders before they can bypass your main force.
  4. Target infiltrators immediately: If an enemy slips past the perimeter, retarget all ranged units onto the runner or use a hero stun to halt them before they strike the terminal.

Hero Selection and Ability Timing

Select a hero capable of absorbing focused fire or locking down grouped enemies. Do not send your hero chasing wandering scouts away from the objective; keep them centered in the defensive ring.

Save active abilities for large cluster waves rather than single targets. Staggering crowd-control abilities allows your ranged infantry to safely wear down incoming armor without being overrun.

Squad Composition and Armor Counters

Hostile waves in Data Breach feature a mix of armored mechanized walkers, shielded droids, and airborne drones. Relying on a single unit class will leave critical gaps in your defense.

  • Bouncers or Melee Guards: Hold the mouth of the choke point to halt incoming walkers and shield ranged units from direct fire.
  • Snipers: Position these behind your frontline with clear sightlines. Their kinetic burst is necessary to strip down heavily armored mechas before they reach melee range.
  • Flamethrowers or Missile Walkers: Deploy behind the frontline to burn down swarms of light combat droids.
  • Anti-Air Morphing: If airborne swarms bypass your ground units, use unit morphing to switch surplus ground infantry into ranged anti-air squads immediately.

Late-Stage Ether and Unit Management

As the data upload timer nears completion, enemy waves increase in frequency and combine durable vanguards with long-range support.

Avoid spending Ether on emergency replacements. Instead, cycle damaged squads a few steps behind the frontline so auxiliary shields or passive regeneration can recover while your hero absorbs pressure. Keep your hero physically planted between remaining attackers and the console, eliminate high-threat mechanical units first, and let residual area-of-effect damage clean up minor droids until the extraction timer expires.
