Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD+ on PC is a fantasy tower defense game about defending the kingdom and the wider realm from a formidable evil. Its unusual premise is an improvised alliance: forces that may not always get along must work together as enemy hordes press across varied battlefields. Your role is to build and upgrade defenses, choose a pair of heroes, and adapt your strategy to the enemies and challenges each stage presents. The tone balances those tactical clashes with Ironhide’s trademark lighthearted humor, including easter eggs scattered through the adventure.

The core loop revolves around preparing a defense and responding as battles unfold. You can recruit from 18 towers, including Archers, Paladins, Mages, Necromancers, and Demon Pits, then build and upgrade them to meet the threats on each route. At the same time, you control two heroes simultaneously, drawing from a roster of 16. Pairings can combine very different abilities and personalities, such as a forest guardian spirit with a battle automaton or a space-bending mage with an ordinary fighter. Those choices give you two heroes to direct during a fight, while your tower placement and upgrades form the backbone of the defense. The game asks you to adjust that combination to the opposing force rather than rely on one setup for every encounter.

The campaign spans 25 stages across six terrains, from deep forests to dangerous caverns. Each battlefield brings its own challenges and details, and the stages pit your defenses against more than 45 enemy types organized into four clans. Hordes and boss fights make those encounters more demanding, so building a suitable mix of towers and making good use of both heroes are central to surviving. Victory also opens up three different game modes that offer more challenging ways to replay stages. More than 58 achievements provide additional goals and rewards for players who want to test their tactics beyond simply reaching the end of a campaign level.

On PC, a larger display can make the tower-defense layout easier to survey: you can take in the battlefield, check where enemies are advancing, and weigh possible tower positions without losing sight of the broader defense. Keyboard-and-mouse input is also well suited to the game’s repeated tactical decisions, such as selecting a tower to build or upgrade and directing either hero as the battle changes. That clarity matters when you are managing two heroes at once while also responding to fast-moving waves.
