To counter waves effectively in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, inspect incoming enemy mitigations and match your tower damage to their lowest resistance before upgrading your kill zone. Physical Armor reduces physical strikes, Magic Resistance reduces mystical attacks, and True Damage bypasses both defenses entirely.

How Defensive Resistances Work

Enemy defenses in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ scale across five tiers: None, Low, Medium, High, and Great. Mismatching damage types against high-tier resistances wastes tower attack cycles and lets enemies slip past choke points.

  • Physical Armor: Absorbs a percentage of incoming physical damage from standard archers, melee units, and non-magical artillery. Counter high armor by targeting the unit with magic attacks or True Damage.
  • Magic Resistance: Reduces elemental and spell damage from wizard towers. Counter high magic resistance using rapid physical volleys or armor-shredding physical abilities.
  • True Damage: Dealt by specific tower abilities and hero skills. It deals full damage regardless of armor or magic resistance tiers, making it ideal for mixed or heavily shielded waves.

Countering Armored Dwarven and Mechanical Units

Dwarven forces and mechanical walkers rely on High to Great Physical Armor alongside large health pools. Standard archers and boomerangs deal negligible chip damage to these targets.

Clockwork WalkersHeavy Physical ArmorDeath explosion damaging nearby blocking unitsRanged magic burst; keep blockers outside explosion radius

To eliminate armored columns:

  1. Place an Infernal Mage at primary bends. Its focused beam ramps up single-target magic damage over time, melting mechanical armor.
  2. Build Dark Knights slightly ahead of your magic towers. Their shield spikes and invulnerability chance hold armored targets inside your magic firing arcs.
  3. Use the Specters Mausoleum to possess or execute high-health targets directly, bypassing their physical mitigation.

Countering Magic-Resistant Northern and Anurian Units

Northern wildlands and southern Anurian swamplands feature enemies with high Magic Resistance. Wizard towers suffer severe damage reduction against these units, making physical damage towers your most cost-effective option.

  • Northern Berzerkers and Shamans: These enemies run fast and brush off magical attacks. Use Shadow Archers with the Blade of Demise upgrade for instakills, or deploy Bone Flingers to overwhelm them through sheer volley volume.
  • Anurian Amphibians: Swamp enemies frequently pair magic resistance with leaping abilities that bypass frontline blockers. Deploy deep barracks or Orc Shaman totems to catch them after they land, then hit grouped packs with physical Goblirang attacks.
  • Corrupted Elementals: Focus physical bleeds, Goblin Rocket Rider abilities, or physical-damage hero attacks such as Asra's skills to break down units carrying innate magic shields.

Handling Flying Enemies and Fast Sprinters

Flying hostiles ignore pathing, ground hazards, and barracks soldiers, while fast sprinters split away from waves to slip past slow artillery reload cycles.

  • Air Defense: Dwarven Gyrocopters, Winter Wyverns, and giant Bats require dedicated anti-air coverage. Build Shadow Archers along early path sections and unlock the Crow's Nest upgrade to extend their engagement range before flyers reach your exit.
  • Sprinter Defense: Scouting hounds, stealth cutthroats, and goblin flankers bypass heavy single-hit towers by running during reload windows. Create layered choke points using Bone Flingers upgraded with Skeleton Spawn. The summoned skeletons force fast runners to stop and fight, buying time for your damage towers to re-engage.

Neutralizing Support Casters and Healers

Support units such as Clerics, Anurian Priests, and Shamanic Channelers do not rely on raw damage. Instead, they grant invulnerability shields, restore enemy health, or disable your towers with curses.

  1. Target them early: Move mobile heroes behind the enemy vanguard to strike support casters before they reach your defensive line.
  2. Use single-target execution: Rely on instakill skills, such as Shadow Archer executions or Specters Mausoleum possession, to delete high-priority healers before they cast group buffs.
  3. Save global abilities: Hold your villain powers and global call-down strikes for backline summoner clusters rather than spending them on initial swarms.
