To clear Stage 28 (Ancient Ghosts) on Impossible difficulty in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, anchor your defense at the central intersection where the lanes merge, upgrade high-damage magic towers to bypass spectral resistances, and eliminate the two Ancient Ghost bosses sequentially instead of splitting your damage.

Stage 28 mixes high-health armored targets, evasive spectral swarms, and two simultaneous final bosses. Your loadout needs high single-target magic damage, crowd control, and durable blockers.

  • Alternative Barracks: Orc Warriors Den can replace Dark Knights if you prefer raw body count over heavy armor shields.
  • Alternative Artillery: Goblirangs can substitute for the Melting Furnace if you lack furnace upgrades.
  • Hero Options: High-impact damage or crowd control heroes such as Eiskalt, Murglun, or Beresad provide strong lane control. For free-to-play rosters, Asra offers armor-piercing ranged damage, while Oloch provides teleportation stalling across split paths.

Early Wave Chokepoint Setup

The early waves split along separate paths before meeting near your exit. Avoid building near monster spawn points; spreading your gold thin across peripheral lanes allows fast runners to slip through.

  1. Anchor the Confluence: Place a Tier 2 barracks or Dark Knights outpost directly at the central intersection where paths converge. Set the rally point where adjacent offensive plots can cover the stalled enemies.
  2. Add Magic Coverage: Build a Specters Mausoleum immediately behind the blockers. Magic bolts ignore the physical resistance of early spectral units, clearing the initial waves without leaking lives.
  3. Position Your Hero Centrally: Station your hero between the upper and lower entry paths. Rely on basic attacks for wave maintenance and hold active hero cooldowns for emergency leaks or high-threat targets.
  4. Rush Tier 4: Save your gold rather than placing extra Tier 1 towers on outer paths. Upgrade your central magic tower to Tier 4 as early as your economy allows.

Managing Mid-Wave Spectral Swarms

From Waves 5 through 9, armored units arrive mixed with high-volume spectral swarms designed to overwhelm single-target towers.

  • Deploy Crowd Control Artillery: Add a Melting Furnace near the central choke. Its stun and burn effects compress enemy clusters, keeping swarms pinned within range of your magic towers.
  • Intercept Phased Rushes: Spectral spirits can phase through blockers if intercepted poorly. Spawn Reinforcements slightly ahead of their movement path rather than right on top of them, forcing them out of sprint animations and back into your artillery kill zone.

Defeating the Dual Ancient Ghost Bosses

The final phase spawns two Ancient Ghost bosses along separate paths before they converge on your central chokepoint. Splitting your damage between both bosses will cause your frontline to collapse. Use a strict focus-fire strategy to clear the encounter.

Step 1: Burst Down the Leading Boss

Identify which Ancient Ghost reaches your central kill zone first. Direct all manual powers, hero ultimates, and Soul Impact directly onto that target. Keep the boss anchored under the sustained focus beam of your Blazing Gem or within range of your Specters Mausoleum. Eliminating the first boss quickly halves the incoming boss area-of-effect damage and protects your garrisoned troops from simultaneous cleaves.

Step 2: Stall the Trailing Boss

While your primary cluster destroys the first target, delay the second boss further up its lane:

  • Place Reinforcements and hero summons directly in front of the second boss to force attack animations away from your main choke.
  • If your primary frontline breaks under boss strikes, reset barracks rally points slightly backward toward secondary defenses to keep the target within tower range.
  • Once the first Ancient Ghost dies, shift your hero, manual powers, and rally points onto the remaining boss to finish the stage.
