To beat the Monkey Island campaign stage on Impossible difficulty in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, anchor your defense at the central intersection where the two jungle paths converge. Establish disposable skeleton blockades early, melt high-armor gorillas using ramping single-target magic damage, and stagger your stall lines in depth so leaping enemies cannot sprint past your perimeter.

The Impossible wave composition alternates between dense swarms of agile runners and heavily armored, high-health bruisers. Your tower deck must combine low-cost physical stalling with dedicated magic penetration.

  • Bone Flingers: Acts as your primary front-line anchor. The regenerating skeletons absorb melee hits, body-block fast runners, and hold targets inside your damage zones.
  • Blazing Gem or Specters Mausoleum: Deals essential armor-piercing damage. The Blazing Gem melts large single targets by ramping thermal beam damage, while the Specters Mausoleum provides crowd possession and magic burst.
  • Deep Devil's Reef or Elite Harassers: Provides secondary stalling, ranged physical damage, and crowd control to trap fast flankers.
  • Goblin War Zeppelin or Orc Shaman: Cleans up dense packs of unarmored monkeys before they overwhelm your blockers.

For your hero, bring a high-impact controller or damage dealer such as Eiskalt, Murglun, or Mortemis. If using free hero options, select Oloch or Asra. Station your hero near the primary junction to intercept fast runners and chip down priority targets.

Early-Wave Chokepoint Setup

The stage sends enemies along two outer paths that join in a central clearing before heading toward the exit. Placing towers too close to the enemy spawners splits your gold across two lanes and causes leaks.

  1. Build two Level 1 Bone Flingers flanking the central intersection before starting Wave 1.
  2. Station your hero directly in the path between the two Bone Flingers to block early runners.
  3. Add a basic magic tower directly adjacent to the choke to pierce incoming armored scouts.
  4. Let early waves reach the kill zone naturally rather than calling them early, ensuring your hero cooldowns are ready and your skeleton lines are not overwhelmed.

Handling Threat Types and Boss Waves

Different enemies require specific counter tactics at the central choke:

Enemy ThreatKey DangerCounter TacticRecommended Counter Tower
Silverback GorillasHigh HP, physical armor, ground-slam stunsRamping magic beams and disposable skeleton summonsBlazing Gem or Specters Mausoleum
Fast Jungle LeapersLeaps over initial frontline blockersLayered backline reinforcement and continuous summonsBone Flingers (Got Milk?)
Simian Shamans / ThrowersRanged damage that eliminates blockersHero intercepts, active burst spells, and artilleryGoblin War Zeppelin or Hero Skills

To prevent leapers from slipping through, avoid relying on a single blocking line. Position secondary reinforcements slightly behind the main junction. Upgrade Bone Flingers with Got Milk? as early as possible so fallen skeletons immediately replenish your frontline.

When Silverback Gorillas engage your line, pull your hero slightly back from the melee pack. Their ground slams stun nearby defenders; if your hero and troops are stunned simultaneously, the lane collapses. Let skeletons take the stuns while your hero deals ranged damage.

Late-Wave Upgrade Order and Spell Timing

Late waves deploy coordinated mixed assaults where armored behemoths push forward beneath cover from ranged throwers. Manage your upgrades and cooldowns in this order:

  1. Upgrade your primary magic tower to Tier 4 before Wave 8: Prioritize the damage ramp amplifier on the Blazing Gem to melt incoming gorillas before they push past the junction.
  2. Upgrade Bone Flingers abilities: Purchase Summon Golem or max out the skeleton spawn rate to keep constant physical blockers in the lane.
  3. Add backline artillery: Place an artillery tower near the rear bend to pick off low-health runners that leak past the primary kill zone.
  4. Time active spells for backline units: Cast Soul Impact or global strike spells into the cluster of ranged throwers trailing behind the gorillas. Clearing the ranged support isolates the lead tanks and lets your single-target towers finish them cleanly.
