To play effectively as The Knight in Dead by Daylight during his Public Test Build (PTB) testing phase, deploy his Guardia Compagnia power to draw patrol paths through survivor vault points and pallets. Instead of relying solely on standard chases, draw a guard path across key escape routes while you move to cut off the opposite angle, creating a two-front pincer attack.

How Guard Pathing and Loops Work

The Knight manually traces a path along the terrain to deploy a guard. When a survivor enters that guard's detection radius, the guard starts an automatic hunt.

• Cut off loop exits: Trace patrol lines directly through windows, pallets, or jungle gym entrances.
• Execute pincer attacks: Once a guard begins hunting, flank the survivor from another angle to block their retreat.
• Adjust for map geometry: On maps with dense walls or narrow corridors, use shorter, focused patrol lines. Long, winding paths increase dead time and can cause guards to struggle around complex geometry.

Selecting the Right Guard

The Knight cycles between three distinct guards. Match each guard to your immediate tactical objective.

Defending Against Banner Counterplay

When a guard begins a hunt, a floating banner appears for the hunted survivor. If the survivor touches this banner before taking damage, the hunt immediately ends and wastes your power cooldown.

To counter this, watch the survivor's trajectory when the hunt begins. Position your Killer between the survivor and the banner to body-block their path, forcing them to take a hit from either you or the guard.

Synergizing Perks for Map Pressure

The Knight's signature perk, Nowhere to Hide, reveals nearby survivor auras whenever you kick a generator.

Combine this perk with the Carnifex guard. Deploying the Carnifex to destroy generators triggers fast break actions while allowing you to spot hidden survivors immediately. This synergy maintains continuous pressure around generators without losing chase momentum.
