To progress efficiently in Knighthood, invest your gold, drops, and hero tomes into heroes that pair directly with your primary Gauntlet and offer reliable debuffs or Rage generation. Prioritize accessible, farmable heroes over low-star Uniques, and stop leveling utility supports once their crowd-control skills function reliably.
Align Hero Investments with Your Primary Gauntlet
Hero viability depends directly on your active Gauntlet. Investing tomes and gold into a hero whose class receives no Gauntlet bonuses slows your Rage generation and weakens your combat rotation.
Two Gauntlets form the backbone of mid- and late-game progression:
- Holy Gauntlet: Boosts Rage generation when striking with Alchemist skills or weapon punch chains. This makes Alchemist heroes the most efficient engines for triggering Knight Rage Powers.
- Maverick Gauntlet: Generates rapid Rage from critical punches. This setup pairs naturally with Mages and Warriors who rely on burst damage, as well as heroes that grant the Focus buff to increase critical strike rates.
Before pushing any hero past level 40, verify that your active Gauntlet accelerates their skill cycle. Upgrading an unaligned hero leaves you with a sluggish team that struggles to charge abilities before enemy attacks break your armor.
Recommended Heroes to Build
The most reliable heroes provide universal value across campaign stages, the Inquisition, roaming monsters, and the Rift by generating Rage, bursting target health, or disabling enemy abilities.
| Hero | Class | Alignment | Primary Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brutus | Alchemist | Chaotic | Fills Rage meter; applies Protect and Decimate |
| Vordrai | Mage | Outlaw | High direct-health burn; accessible via Guild Shop |
| Ayako | Alchemist | Holy | Front-row Stun; purges enemy buffs and heals |
| Grimm | Mage | Champion | Direct health drain; applies area-of-effect Weaken |
| Titania | Mage | Holy | Restores health; grants Focus to feed critical punches |
Core Damage and Energy Engines
- Brutus: His Base Power, Dwarven Fury, deals modest damage but fills a large portion of your Rage meter. When paired with the Holy Gauntlet, this generates a Knight Rage Power every few turns. His Rage Power applies Protect to your Knight and Decimate to shred armored enemies.
- Vordrai: Obtainable directly through Guild Shop shards, Vordrai eliminates reliance on chest RNG. His Base Power, Blood Magic, sacrifices a portion of your Knight’s health to inflict heavy burn damage directly to enemy health bars, bypassing armor. His Rage Power deals massive area-of-effect damage, scaling heavily when supported by Mage charms.
Essential Utility Supports
High damage alone cannot clear deeper Rift sectors or high-tier dungeon stages where enemies bring massive shields, regeneration, and charged attacks.
- Ayako: Her Base Power provides a reliable front-row Stun to disrupt charged abilities. Her Rage Power dispels enemy buffs—including Protect, Focus, and Regeneration—while healing your Knight.
- Grimm: Combines survivability and damage reduction. His Base Power drains health directly from a target into your own pool, while his Rage Power applies Weaken to all enemies to cut incoming damage.
- Titania: A Rare hero who serves as an accessible early- to mid-game healer. Her Base Power restores direct health and applies Focus, raising your weapon critical rate to accelerate Rage generation with the Maverick Gauntlet.
Common Investment Traps
Progression bottlenecks usually occur when scarce resources are committed to heroes that cannot scale into late-game content:
- Pure Single-Target Attackers Without Utility: Heroes that only deal moderate damage without applying Stun, Freeze, Dispel, Weaken, or direct Rage fall off against high-stat Rift encounters. Trading raw attacks without disrupting enemy buffs or turn timers is unsustainable.
- Low-Star Unique Heroes: Leveling a Unique hero to 50 or 60 demands vast amounts of specialized tomes, gold, and drops. A 1-star or 2-star Unique without accessible shards will consistently underperform compared to a 6-star Epic or a Guild Shop Legendary like Vordrai, whose star promotions provide superior passive bonuses and stat multipliers.
- Spreading Tomes Across Every Class: Early- and mid-game resource pools cannot support leveling Warriors, Mages, Hunters, and Alchemists simultaneously. Spreading tomes leaves an entire roster underleveled for current content.
Rules for Allocating Tomes and Gold
- Prioritize Shard Farmability: Build heroes whose shards can be bought reliably in the Guild Shop or Arena Shop, or farmed from Hunts. Star promotions provide crucial multipliers that unfarmable heroes cannot match.
- Restrict Upgrades to Two Core Classes: Focus your hero tomes strictly on your primary Gauntlet class and one secondary support class.
- Halt Support Levels at Utility Thresholds: Supports used primarily for Dispel, Weaken, or Stun do not need maximum level priority. Keep them at the minimum level required to survive incoming hits, and funnel remaining gold and tomes into your primary damage carry.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Knighthood articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This helped me understand heroes much better.
Good guide for Knighthood players. The heroes part was useful.
