To forge a Unique rarity item in Knighthood, combine six Legendary items of the same category—either six weapons or six armor pieces—inside the Dwarven Foundry and pay the required gold transmutation fee. Because this process permanently consumes all six Legendary components, only transmute items when your active combat loadout does not rely on them.
Dwarven Foundry Transmutation Rules
The Dwarven Foundry operates on a strict fusion requirement: six items of an identical rarity level fuse into one item of the next tier.
- Common (Grey): 6 items fuse into 1 Rare item.
- Rare (Green): 6 items fuse into 1 Epic item.
- Epic (Blue): 6 items fuse into 1 Legendary item.
- Legendary (Purple): 6 items fuse into 1 Unique item.
Unique gear provides substantial stat increases over Legendary gear. Unique armor yields higher base armor and health pools per upgrade level, while Unique weapons offer higher base damage and skill multipliers. In addition, Unique equipment can roll up to five charm slots, providing the capacity needed for endgame builds.
How to Control Item Types and Charm Slots
Transmutation does not let you select a specific named item directly, but your input materials determine both the item archetype and the available charm slot pool.
Targeting Specific Weapon Types
The Foundry weights the resulting item type based on the inputs provided. For example, submitting four hammers and two swords skews the outcome toward a hammer, but does not guarantee it. To guarantee a specific weapon archetype—such as an axe to benefit from Maverick or Holy Gauntlet boosts—you must submit six Legendary weapons of that exact weapon class.
Influencing Charm Slot Rolls
A forged Unique item rolls its charm slots randomly from the pool of charm types present across the six sacrificed Legendary items. If your sacrifice fodder contains primarily low-impact slots, the resulting Unique gear will inherit those types. Screen your fodder before transmuting to favor desirable slots:
| Charm Slot Type | Priority | Strategic Value |
|---|---|---|
| Hero Charm | Top | Directly increases Hero power and base spell damage. |
| Armor Charm | High | Multiplies overall survivability for high-tier encounters. |
| Weapon Charm | Situational | Modifies critical rate, chain damage, or status infliction. |
| Effect Charm | Low | Provides narrow utility that generally yields lower value than raw stats. |
Budgeting Gold for the Transmute Fee
The primary progression hurdle when crafting Unique items is the Dwarven Foundry fee, which costs hundreds of thousands of gold coins for a single fusion. Initiating a forge without a reserve will drain your funds and pause hero leveling and gear upgrades.
To accumulate the required gold before forging:
- Clear the Onslaught Dungeon daily: Complete every accessible floor each day to collect flat gold payouts.
- Target high-yield Roaming Monsters: Prioritize map encounters whose objective chests reward bonus gold pouches or equipment chests.
- Dismantle Common and Rare equipment: Break down excess Grey and Green gear from monster chests for gold and charm materials instead of spending gold on low-tier transmutations.
What to Do With Your Forged Unique Item
Once the fusion is complete, evaluate the item's charm slots and category to decide your next step:
- Equip and upgrade: If the item rolled high-priority slots (such as multiple Armor or Hero charms) and matches your favored gauntlet synergy, invest upgrade materials to raise its level for active use.
- Save for Mythic sacrifice: If the item rolled unfavorable charm slots or duplicates a slot you do not need, lock it in your inventory. Unlocking endgame Mythic gear requires sacrificing specific Unique items at the Lady of the Lake's altar.
- Dismantle for charms: If you need immediate power for an existing armor set rather than a Mythic unlock, dismantling an unwanted Unique item yields high-tier Unique and Legendary charms.
