To maintain your survival in Last Beacon: Survival, keep your primary focus on the top-left status indicators for health and oxygen, configure your bottom quick-access bar for instant tool selection, and react immediately to visual threat alerts on your screen.
Core Survival Metrics
The heads-up display permanently pins your critical survival bars to the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Oxygen Level: Depletes based on activity and environmental depth. If oxygen reaches zero, your health drains rapidly.
- Vitality (Health): Decreases when taking direct damage or suffering secondary effects from oxygen loss.
Check these meters frequently when transitioning between biomes or performing energy-heavy labor. Because depletion does not always trigger an audible alarm, visual checking is your primary protection against unexpected deaths.
Interaction Prompts and Loot Selection
Interactions in the game world are context-sensitive. Approaching a target brings up specific interaction icons for different objects:
- Loot Containers: Displays a container menu listing available items. Verify each item icon before taking it to ensure high-value progression resources like fuel and scrap metal take priority over low-grade junk.
- Crafting Benches: Triggers bench-specific craft menus.
- Base Structures: Opens construction or repair prompts depending on structural damage.
Tool Slot Setup and Durability Tracking
Your quick-access tool bar sits at the bottom of the screen. Proper layout prevents wasted time during combat or harvesting runs.
- Open your main inventory menu.
- Drag essential gathering tools (such as your primary pick or harvesting tool) into your active slots.
- Place your main gathering tool in the first slot for immediate access when reaching a node.
Watch the small durability indicator attached to equipped items on the HUD. If an item icon begins displaying low-durability warnings, repair or swap the tool before embarking on an excursion.
Navigation Waypoints and Threat Alerts
The HUD provides direct movement feedback and warning visuals to help you navigate safely.
- Objective Waypoints: Centered icons mark story destinations. Keep the icon in your field of view while traveling. If the marker disappears from your view, check the mini-map or main menu to reset your heading.
- Threat Alerts: Visual cues such as pulsating screen borders or flashing icons notify you of hostile creature proximity, toxic zones, or sudden weather changes.
- Retreating: When a threat indicator flashes, use the retreat prompt to cancel your current harvesting animation immediately and head toward shelter.
