To attack bases deep inside an alliance hive in Last War, teleport directly to the hive perimeter, scout for reinforcement traps, compress your march time to seconds using speed-ups, and immediately secure your exit.
Alliance hives are designed to protect interior bases by forcing attackers to march through outer perimeter rings. A long-distance march alerts the target to activate an Alliance Shield and gives nearby defenders time to reinforce or counter-attack your base. A successful breach relies on eliminating warning time and neutralizing defensive depth.
Ingress Positioning and Teleportation
Launching an attack from kilometers away gives interior defenders 30 seconds to several minutes of advance notice. To minimize this travel window:
- Scan the outer boundary of the cluster for vacant tiles, inactive accounts, or low-level farm bases aligned directly with your target.
- Use an Advanced Teleport to position your base directly on the perimeter seam closest to the target.
- If the hive contains internal empty space caused by resource nodes, evicted players, or uneven layout, teleport directly into that inner core if your squad can handle immediate retaliation.
Placing your base flush against the perimeter cuts your baseline march distance to inner rings by more than half, establishing the foundation for a rapid strike.
Compressing March Times with Speed-Ups
Even from the perimeter, a normal march through multiple base rings gives an alert defender time to open their base and activate a shield. Neutralize this reaction window by chaining march speed boosts as soon as your squad deploys.
| Boost Type | Intended Use Case | Tactical Impact |
|---|---|---|
| 25% March Speed-Up | Secondary squad attacks or outer-ring marches | Cuts transit moderately; ideal for follow-up hits |
| 50% March Speed-Up | Primary squad strikes against alert interior targets | Drops travel time to 2–3 seconds, precluding manual shields |
| March Acceleration Skills | Alliance skills and VIP perks active before impact | Stacks with consumable items for near-instant delivery |
Immediately after queueing your attack march, open the squad panel and apply 50% or 25% speed-up items. Reducing transit time to 2 or 3 seconds ensures the attack lands before the defender can react.
Checking for Reinforcement Traps
Unshielded, lower-power bases stationed deep inside an alliance hive often function as bait. Stronger alliance members can station hundreds of thousands of high-tier garrison troops inside these targets.
Verify the base before committing your main march:
- Scout the Base: Deploy a scout plane against unshielded targets to inspect the garrison count rather than relying solely on the base's displayed power rating.
- Track Inbound Marches: Look for reinforcement lines traveling from nearby high-level bases toward your target. If lines converge on the target, cancel or redirect your march.
- Probe with a Secondary Squad: If a full scout would prompt the player to shield, send a fast, low-tier squad first. Check the battle report immediately to identify whether you are fighting the base owner or an exterior defender's garrison.
Post-Strike Extraction
Combat alerts notify the defender's entire alliance the moment your march hits, triggering incoming counter-marches toward your coordinates. Do not leave your base vulnerable while waiting for your troops to return at standard speed.
Recall or speed up your returning squad, then immediately execute one of two extraction options:
- Activate a Peace Shield: Apply an 8-hour Peace Shield as soon as your troops dock to invalidate all incoming marches.
- Use a Random Teleport: If your shield is on cooldown or server event rules restrict shielding, consume a Random Teleport immediately. Relocating resets incoming attack paths, protecting your hospital capacity and securing the points earned from the strike.

Good guide for Last War players. The base building part was useful.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Last War articles next.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
Can you add more details about base building in a future update?
