To run a dual-carry board in Lucky Defense!, pair BatGuy and Ray to handle bosses and swarms separately. Single-damage setups often fail when swarms overwhelm single-target physical attackers or when magic wave-clearers lack the sustained burst needed for high-health bosses. BatGuy provides scaling physical damage to eliminate bosses, while Ray uses magic burst to clear crowded lanes.

Role Division and Core Scaling

BatGuy and Ray cover each other's mechanical weaknesses. Splitting your damage types prevents high-resistance enemies or dense mob counts from stalling your board.

Ray functions as your frontline screen wipe. His beam clears clustered standard creeps before they crowd the exit. BatGuy acts as your single-target anchor, using his high physical scaling to burn through boss health pools before enemies breach your backline.

Essential Support Units and Positioning

Neither carry can hold a solo board without crowd control and mana generation. Position your units around track curves to concentrate targets and maximize aura coverage.

  • Kitty Mage (Mana Battery): Ray relies entirely on casting his ultimate energy beam to wipe waves. Place Kitty Mages directly adjacent to Ray to continuously recharge his MP and reduce beam downtime. Kitty Mage also charges BatGuy's secondary skills.
  • Crowd Control Anchors: Place stun and slow units, such as Electro Robot and Hunter, at the curve where enemies enter your main firing corridor. Grouping mobs into a tight cluster ensures Ray's linear beam pierces maximum targets.
  • Armor Shred: Add physical defense reduction supports near the kill zone. Stripping armor significantly speeds up BatGuy's boss kill times during late-stage milestone waves.

Position Ray along the longest straight stretch of track so his energy beam travels through advancing creep columns without clipping corners. Place BatGuy slightly downstream or at the central stun choke point. This positioning lets Ray soften or destroy standard creeps first, preventing BatGuy from wasting attack cycles on low-health trash mobs instead of focusing down the stage boss. Place Kitty Mages in the center between both carries so their mana aura reaches both units simultaneously.

Resource Allocation and Upgrade Priorities

Building two carries requires phased resource spending so you do not starve your economy or fall behind on support utility.

  1. Establish Lane Stability Early: Focus opening rounds on collecting summon materials and building an economy. Summon whichever carry your initial rolls support first. If BatGuy spawns first, keep his weapon upgrades modest while you recruit crowd control. If Ray spawns first, prioritize summoning a Kitty Mage to resolve his mana needs immediately. Avoid rolling away all Lucky Stones on early weapon upgrades before your crowd control is active.
  2. Prioritize BatGuy for Weapon Levels: Once both carries are active, direct your weapon upgrade stones into BatGuy. BatGuy depends heavily on raw weapon levels to keep pace with escalating boss health pools.
  3. Scale Ray Through Mana and Copies: Keep Ray effective by investing summon materials into duplicate copies and additional Kitty Mages. Because Ray relies on skill frequency rather than heavy weapon stone investment, this split lets you scale both carries without splitting your stone economy down the middle.

During late-game boss waves, watch the boss's position relative to your stun cluster. If standard creeps begin clustering toward the board defeat limit while a boss is active, trigger crowd control and rely on Ray's mana-fed beams to clear the backlog while BatGuy stays focused on executing the boss.
