In Lucky Defense!, Grand Mama functions as an emergency board-clearing unit rather than a stationary damage dealer. Instead of standing in your perimeter to fire standard attacks, she features a manual dispatch command that sends her charging down the lane to plow through incoming monster waves.

To use Grand Mama effectively, summon her to an outer board tile, hold her active charge until monster density threatens your run, and launch her down the track to relieve lane pressure.

How to Trigger Grand Mama's Charge

Grand Mama does not launch automatically upon fusion. You control her active deployment directly through her unit menu:

  1. Select Grand Mama on your defensive grid to open her unit interface.
  2. Activate her dispatch command to release her from the tile.
  3. Watch her charge along the track, damaging all enemies in her path before exiting the lane.

Because activating her run consumes her presence on the board, firing her charge too early removes an active Mythic unit without generating adequate value.

When to Send Out Grand Mama

Treat Grand Mama as a tactical reset button. Hold her deployment until one of two specific situations occurs:

  • Critical Monster Count Surges: When the active monster count spikes toward the loss limit and your standard area-of-effect towers fall behind, send out Grand Mama to wipe the crowded choke point and reset the counter.
  • Boss Wave Escorts: When a boss enters the lane surrounded by dense creep packs, dispatch Grand Mama immediately. Her charge clears out surrounding escort mobs, preventing them from absorbing hits and allowing your single-target carries to focus the boss directly.

If the track is clear or monster density is low, leave Grand Mama on your board until high-density waves force her intervention.

Grid Positioning and Formation Synergy

Because Grand Mama's primary value comes from her active charge, reserve prime board space for continuous towers:

  • Placement: Position Grand Mama along perimeter tiles. Keep central tiles open for sustained carries like Chu or King Dian, as well as crowd-control anchors like Shock Robot.
  • Crowd Control: Group slow-inducing units near track corners. Clustering enemies into tight packs increases the number of targets Grand Mama hits during her run.
  • Armor Reduction: Grand Mama deals physical damage. Ensure your board includes defense reduction debuffs, as her burst falls off sharply against armored targets in later rounds without armor shred.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Immediate Firing: Never launch Grand Mama the moment she is summoned. Firing into a light wave wastes her burst potential and empties her tile needlessly.
  • Clogging Board Space Early: Do not hoard unmerged lower-tier components on your grid while attempting to assemble her. Holding inactive fodder without steady DPS can cause early wave failure before you complete the summon.
  • Skipping Boss Damage: Grand Mama excels at mob clearing, but she cannot replace dedicated single-target boss killers. Balance your board so you have consistent sustained damage after her charge finishes.
