To clear levels 511 through 520 in Magic Sort!, isolate single-color top layers before shifting deeper segments and keep at least one empty bottle open at all times to prevent board deadlocks.
Sorting Priorities for Levels 511–520
The primary challenge in this level range is managing disorganized color stacks. Taking premature moves often locks destination bottles before critical colors can be grouped.
- Scan top layers immediately: Before moving liquid, identify every bottle that has a single-color segment exposed at the top.
- Build anchor bottles: Move top-layer segments into dedicated destination bottles holding only that single color. Establishing single-color anchor bottles reduces active variables and frees up matching space.
- Expose bottom-layer colors: In heavily congested setups like levels 515 and 518, critical colors sit trapped at the very bottom of four-layer stacks. Prioritize stripping the top colors of these stacks into neutral or matching spaces. If a bottom color lacks an open destination bottle, leave that stack intact until a matching path opens.
Managing Empty Bottles and Preventing Deadlocks
Empty bottles act as temporary staging slots to move color segments out of the way. Mismanaging empty space is the most common failure point in levels 511 through 520.
- Use the ping-pong technique: Shift a blocking color segment into an empty bottle temporarily, transfer the underlying layer to its proper destination, and then complete the set.
- Reserve a emergency slot: Never fill every empty bottle with multi-colored segments simultaneously. Stacking mixed colors across all open bottles eliminates valid transfer slots and creates an unrecoverable board deadlock.
- Isolate high-risk bottles: Treat any bottle containing three or more distinct colors as an immediate liability. Work toward stripping its upper layers to reduce complexity before filling new bottles.
If a level attempt fails, restart and alter your initial color transfers. Shifting a single top-layer segment to a different temporary bottle during your opening moves usually resolves tight board states in this stage of the game.

This saved me time in the early game.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
