To beat Match Factory! Level 1409, match fully visible target items from the top of the pile first and maintain at least two to three empty slots in your seven-space bottom tray. Picking clutter without uncovering an immediate match will jam your tray and cause a stage failure before the timer expires.
Holding Tray Space Management
Your collection tray holds a maximum of seven items. Housing two incomplete pairs leaves only three free slots to locate final match pieces. Manage your picks based on how many tray spaces are currently filled:
- Four or fewer slots occupied: You can safely pull single visible targets from the heap, even if their matching pieces are slightly covered.
- Five slots occupied: Stop picking unlinked items. Scan only for objects that match items already resting in your tray.
- Six slots occupied: Emergency state. Only tap an item that immediately creates a three-piece match to free up two slots.
If your tray fills with non-matching items and you cannot spot their counterparts, do not guess blindly. Shift your focus strictly to resolving existing pairs.
How to Clear the Physical Pile
Level 1409 piles miscellaneous clutter on top of required objectives. Pulling items carelessly shifts the 3D physics model and can bury targets deeper beneath heavy objects.
- Match exposed top-layer triplets first: Clear unobstructed targets within the opening seconds to drop the goal counter and let the rest of the pile settle naturally.
- Unblock targets deliberately: Only pull a non-objective item if taking it immediately frees two pinned target pieces and you have an open tray slot to absorb it.
- Remove small debris before heavy items: Small, flat, or cylindrical debris slides out with minimal physics disruption. Yanking large, irregular pieces can cause the mound to tumble, turning target faces upside down.
- Clear from one flank inward: Work from either the left or right edge rather than digging into the center. Creating an open flat area gives displaced items room to roll out, making targets easier to spot.
Booster Selection and Usage
Standard clearing does not require boosters, but specific tools resolve critical bottlenecks when tray lock or the countdown timer threatens the run.
| Booster | Primary Function | When to Use on Level 1409 |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum | Clears an entire set of goal items from the board | When two parts of a target triplet are secured but the third is deeply buried |
| Spring | Clears the oldest items currently occupying your tray | When five or six tray slots are clogged with items you cannot match |
| Fan | Shuffles and tosses the heap to redistribute pieces | When required target items are inverted or completely wedged under clutter |
Final Phase Execution
Once the remaining objective count drops below ten items, the item mound will be flat. Switch from cautious excavation to rapid pattern matching across the floor:
- Scan the stage in horizontal bands across the cleared floor rather than staring at one cluster.
- Pick two adjacent targets immediately when spotted and sweep outward to grab the third.
- Maintain rapid clearing tempo during the final twenty seconds, provided you keep at least three open tray slots to prevent accidental lockouts.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Match Factory! articles next.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
Good guide for Match Factory! players. The strategy part was useful.
