You begin by choosing from six heroes, each with a different starting deck and unique playstyle, then set out on a procedurally generated adventure aimed at ending the Uberlich’s cycle of destruction. Every run starts with a basic collection of attack cards, but the deck you finish with depends on the encounters, rewards, bargains, upgrades, and decisions you make along the way. Because death is permanent, a failed adventure sends you back to the drawing board with a new hero and a new attempt rather than preserving the run itself. You do keep the gems earned during play, which can be used to unlock new cards, giving repeated runs a longer-term purpose without removing the consequences of defeat.

Combat is built around a straightforward but meaningful card-drawing system. When you draw an ability card, you decide whether to play it or skip the turn and regain some stamina, creating constant tactical choices between immediate damage or a better position for later actions. The basic rhythm of drawing, spending, recovering, and adapting becomes more demanding as you face different enemies and work toward encounters with one of the game’s seven unique bosses. More than 150 cards can be discovered, and the deck-building layer asks you to shape those options into a workable strategy rather than simply collect everything available. Between battles, the encounter deck determines where the adventure takes you. Blacksmiths can upgrade cards, temples can help optimize your deck, and mysterious characters may offer bargains that can alter the direction of a run. These locations make exploration part of the strategy: each stop can improve your deck, create a risk, or force you to decide what your current build is really trying to accomplish.

The PC version gives these systems more room to read and manage. On a larger display, you can more easily examine your available cards, compare their effects while deciding whether to act or recover stamina, and keep track of the information presented during a battle. Keyboard-and-mouse input also suits repeated card decisions, letting you move through combat choices deliberately instead of treating every draw as a rushed gesture. Outside combat, the added screen space is useful when considering encounter options, checking how a blacksmith’s upgrade fits your deck, or weighing a temple’s opportunity against the needs of your current run. Meteorfall’s variety comes from having to make those judgments with an incomplete plan: locations, enemies, quests, and available cards change from adventure to adventure, so a strategy that worked previously may not fit the next run. Alongside the standard roguelike progression, Daily Challenge mode adds a leaderboard and gameplay modifiers, while five unlockable Demon Mode difficulty levels provide further challenges. Unlockable hero skins also come with their own starting decks, and normal play can earn additional cards, achievements, and leaderboard progress. With no ads, timers, or freemium interruptions, Meteorfall: Journey on PC keeps its focus on the compact loop of choosing a hero, building a deck, making careful combat decisions, exploring changing encounters, and trying again after permanent defeat.
