To maximize an attacker Astromon's damage output in Monster Super League, build toward a 100% Critical Rate before prioritizing raw Attack and Critical Damage. Equipping a Ruin gem set with a Critical Rate main stat on a square slot, combined with Attack percentage and Critical Damage percentage main stats, delivers the highest burst damage multiplier. If your total Critical Rate falls below 85%, replace Critical Damage with a second Attack percentage gem to prevent inconsistent damage output.
Check Gem Slot Shapes and Elemental Baselines
Every attacker build depends on the shape of your gem slots and the Astromon's innate elemental stats. In Monster Super League, a Critical Rate percentage main stat rolls strictly on square-shaped gems. If an attacker lacks a square slot, reaching high Critical Rate requires high substat rolls across all three gems, set bonuses, or leader skills.
Innate baseline critical stats vary by element:
- RGB (Fire, Water, Wood): 10% base Critical Rate and 50% base Critical Damage multiplier. These Astromons need 90% bonus Critical Rate from gems, set bonuses, or leader skills to hit the cap.
- Dark: 10% base Critical Rate and an inherent 100% base Critical Damage multiplier. Because of their higher base Critical Damage, Dark attackers scale especially well when built with high Critical Rate.
- Light: 20% base Critical Rate and 50% base Critical Damage multiplier. The higher starting rate lowers the gearing requirement needed to cap Critical Rate.
Passive skills also change your stat priorities. Astromons with the Hunter passive gain inherent Critical Damage bonuses, meaning they gain more damage value from stacking Attack percentage rather than equipping an additional Critical Damage gem.
Choose the Right Main Stats
Equip percentage main stats on 6-star gems. Flat Attack, Defense, and HP values on main stat slots scale poorly compared to percentage bonuses once an Astromon reaches level 60.
| Build Focus | Recommended Main Stats | Primary Use Cases |
|---|---|---|
| Max Burst Nuker | Crit Rate% (Square) / Atk% / Crit Dmg% | PvP Offense, Clan Titans, Dimensional Rift bosses |
| Consistent Pure Attacker | Crit Rate% (Square) / Atk% / Atk% | Story farming, Golem Dungeons, Tower of Chaos |
| Hunter Archetype | Crit Rate% (Square) / Atk% / Atk% | Astromons with native Hunter or high innate Crit Damage |
| Balanced Bruiser | Atk% / Atk% / HP% (or Def%) | PvP Defense, difficult elemental auto-farming |
While Crit Rate / Atk% / Crit Dmg% delivers peak single-hit burst, it relies on landing critical hits reliably. If your total Critical Rate sits under 85%, use two Atk% gems instead to ensure stable average damage across auto-battle runs.
Select Gem Set Bonuses
Gem sets amplify your base stats or alter how an attacker cycles skills in battle. Acquire 6-star gems from Golem Dungeons or Dragon Dungeons to complete these sets:
- Ruin Set (+40% Crit Damage): The premier choice for maximum burst damage. It stacks multiplicatively with high Attack, making it ideal for Dark units and primary nukers.
- Intuition Set (+20% Crit Rate): Use this set when your gem substats fall short of the Critical Rate cap.
- Valor Set (+20% Attack): Provides reliable baseline damage when you do not need bonus Critical Rate to reach your target cap.
- Siphon Set (Gain SP per damage dealt): Converts outgoing damage into immediate SP regeneration. This set is optimal for wave-clearing scenarios and fast farming, allowing your attacker to trigger active area-of-effect skills on consecutive waves.
Substat Priorities and Survival Thresholds
When leveling gems through the +3, +6, +9, and +12 upgrade thresholds, prioritize percentage rolls over flat numerical stats. Stop investing gold into +15 upgrades if the secondary upgrades land on flat Defense, flat Recovery, or flat HP.
Follow this upgrade priority for offensive gems:
- Critical Rate%: Upgrade until you reach 100% total Crit Rate, or 85% to 90% if using a permanent Critical Rate leader skill such as variant Leo or variant Miho.
- Attack%: Increases the base pool multiplied by critical hits and passive skills.
- Critical Damage%: Scales output further once your Critical Rate and Attack pools are established.
- HP% and Defense%: Prevents your attacker from being eliminated by counterattacks or boss wave transitions.
- Resist%: Protects against crowd control debuffs such as stuns, sleep, petrification, and attack reductions.
If your attacker dies consistently during wave transitions in Golem B10, Golem B11, or high Dragon floors, swap one offensive main stat gem for an HP% gem, or upgrade defensive trinkets to survive incoming burst damage.
