To survive as the Arcanist in Mythic Survivors, maintain continuous movement in wide elliptical loops while building 360-degree spell coverage. The Arcanist possesses high offensive burst scaling but lacks baseline physical defense, crowd control, and innate peeling tools. Stopping to aim or face swarms head-on leads to rapid run failure.

Relying solely on narrow or directional spells leaves blind spots that enemy swarms quickly exploit. Prioritize abilities that cover multiple angles and protect your character while you reposition:

  • Rotating Orbs and Shields: Orbital spells create an automated barrier that damages creeping enemies attempting to flank your cast path.
  • Area-of-Effect Field Spells: Ground-targeted storms and explosive fields wipe out tight packs without forcing you to turn toward incoming threats.
  • Piercing Projectiles: Piercing upgrades allow primary arcane attacks to pass through heavy frontline monsters and strike backline units.
  • Chain Lightning or Arc Spikes: Spreading burst damage hits secondary targets automatically, thinning hordes before they can encircle you.

Essential Passive Stats

Stacking offensive magic alone creates a fragile build vulnerable to single hits or brief stuns. Complement your spell kit with three core passive stats:

  1. Cooldown Reduction: Shortens downtime between spell rotations, reducing the vulnerability window where enemies can breach your blast zone.
  2. Movement Speed: Ensures you stay ahead of fast-charging elites without relying on emergency evasive skills.
  3. Pickup Radius: Allows you to gather experience gems from behind your defensive perimeter so you do not have to dive into dangerous mobs to level up.

Movement Discipline and Positioning

Most failed Arcanist runs stem from movement errors rather than insufficient damage. Use the following tactical adjustments to stay alive during dense waves:

Movement MistakePrimary RiskTactical Adjustment
Static CastingMob contact during projectile recoveryMaintain perpetual kiting loops
Corner TrappingGetting pinned against stage boundariesCircle central arena perimeters
Greedy Gem CollectingStepping directly into elite strike zonesRely on pickup radius to collect gems safely
Corridor RetreatsBecoming pinched between two choke pointsCut through the thinnest point of the pack

Handling Boss Encounters

Mid-stage bosses spawn alongside dense minion waves, creating dangerous distractions. Avoid tunneling on the boss's health bar; minor enemies staggering your movement often deal the initial damage that allows a boss slam to finish the run.

Treat the boss as an additional obstacle inside your established perimeter loop. Allow passive area-of-effect abilities to clear surrounding swarms, and direct heavy arcane casts toward the boss only when you have a clear escape route. If the boss begins an attack wind-up or charge, stop casting, reposition across open ground, and re-establish your spacing.
