To complete the Atlas Path in No Man's Sky, you must visit a series of Atlas Interfaces, craft ten sequential Atlas Seed blueprints culminating in the Heart of the Sun, and present the final seed at the terminal of the ultimate interface to birth a star. Completing this journey grants the Star Seed technology blueprint and permanently reveals black holes on your Galactic Map.

Starting the Quest and Finding Atlas Interfaces

You can start the Atlas Path at the beginning of a playthrough by accepting the red orb's guidance at your initial crash site. If you declined or missed it, summon the Space Anomaly from space, board it, and speak to Specialist Polo. Selecting the option to request Atlas Interface coordinates will add a dedicated waypoint to your navigation system.

To reach an interface:

  1. Board your starship and open the Galactic Map.
  2. Set the navigation filter to the Atlas Path route to reveal a direct warp path to the nearest system containing an Atlas station.
  3. Warp to the target system and locate the Atlas Interface, a large, dark geometric megastructure with glowing red accents.
  4. Land in the docking bay, walk up the central ramp to the platform terminal, and activate it to acquire your first seed blueprint.

Meeting Journey Milestone Requirements

Atlas Interfaces require specific Journey Milestone ranks before granting higher-tier seed blueprints. If your current milestone standing is too low, the terminal will withhold the next recipe until you explore further.

You can increase your milestones while traveling between systems by focusing on these activities:

  • Alien Words and Interactions: Speak to NPCs at space stations and trading posts to learn alien vocabulary and log dialogue interactions.
  • Zoology Scans: Scan all fauna species on a planet and upload the completed discovery checklist for significant milestone credit.
  • Extreme Survival: Accumulate time on planets classified with extreme weather hazards or aggressive Sentinels.
  • Ship Combat: Eliminate hostile pirate starships during space travel to increase your combat destruction milestone.

Check your current standing under the Milestones tab in the pause menu before making long warp journeys to avoid arriving at an interface prematurely.

Crafting Sequential Atlas Seeds

The quest requires crafting ten sequential seed items. Each tier serves as the base ingredient for the next recipe, meaning you should craft them in order as you obtain them rather than hoarding raw resources until the end.

TierBlueprint NameRequired Ingredients
1Capture Nanode50 Chromatic Metal
2Engram Resonator1 Capture Nanode, 100 Pure Ferrite
3Chronos Lap1 Engram Resonator, 100 Ionised Cobalt
4Centaur Ring1 Chronos Lap, 100 Magnetised Ferrite
5Photic Jade1 Centaur Ring, 100 Sodium Nitrate
6State Phasma1 Photic Jade, 100 Cadmium
7Novae Recla1 State Phasma, 100 Emeril
8Dawn's End1 Novae Recla, 100 Indium
9Dark Matter1 Dawn's End, 50 Carbon, 50 Deuterium
10Heart of the Sun1 Dark Matter, 100 Gold

Because State Phasma, Novae Recla, and Dawn's End require Cadmium, Emeril, and Indium, you must install the corresponding colored hyperdrive upgrades (Cadmium Drive, Emeril Drive, and Indium Drive) on your starship to access red, green, and blue star systems where these metals are found.

Activating the Final Interface

After obtaining the Heart of the Sun blueprint, follow the Galactic Map route to the eleventh and final Atlas Interface.

This station features a central altar surrounded by a ring of pedestals:

  1. Walk around the circular platform and interact with each outer pedestal in order to activate it using the intermediate seed recipes.
  2. Approach the central terminal once all surrounding pedestals are active.
  3. Insert the Heart of the Sun.
  4. Choose the option to birth a new star when prompted.

Selecting this choice concludes the narrative line. Before flying out of the station, check the floor pillars surrounding the platform to gather lore logs and bonus Nanite Clusters.

Quest Completion Rewards

Birthing a star unlocks two permanent exploration advantages:

  • Star Seed Blueprint: You receive the recipe to craft the Star Seed (16 Platinum, 1 Tritium, and 1 Heart of the Sun). Installing this technology into your Exosuit grants an additional health unit to your core shields. Placing it directly adjacent to the Remembrance module—acquired from the separate Artemis Path questline—activates an adjacency bonus that further improves overall shield strength.
  • Galactic Map Black Holes: Black holes appear permanently as marked circular icons on your Galactic Map. You no longer need to visit Specialist Polo on the Space Anomaly to obtain coordinates, allowing you to use black holes at will to travel quickly toward the Galactic Center.
