To complete an animal-feeding Weekend Mission from the Nexus in No Man's Sky, craft at least 40 to 60 Creature Pellets, accept the featured weekend event at the Space Anomaly's central terminal, and warp to the designated planet. Once there, locate native wildlife using your Analysis Visor, toss pellets to feed animals until the mission quota fills, and return to the Nexus to claim your Quicksilver and bonus rewards.
Preparing Supplies and Launching the Mission
Weekend Missions appear at the central Nexus terminal inside the Space Anomaly from Friday evening through Sunday night, marked by a golden mission banner. Preparing your inventory before launching prevents delays on hostile or resource-poor target worlds.
- Craft Creature Pellets: Gather raw Carbon from planetary flora, or refine it from Oxygen and Condensed Carbon. Craft 40 to 60 Creature Pellets so you have enough bait ready in your inventory.
- Pack Hazard Supplies: Stock Ion Batteries and Life Support Gel. Target planets frequently have extreme environmental hazards or aggressive weather.
- Initialize the Event: Interact with the Nexus cube, select the animal interaction weekend mission, and ready up solo or with a group.
- Warp to the Destination: Board your starship and exit the Space Anomaly docking bay. The game automatically executes a warp sequence directly to the target system.
Managing Target Planet Congestion
Because the entire community shares the same target coordinates, system traffic can cause frame rate drops, heavy terrain clutter from communication stations, and startled fauna.
- Disable Multiplayer if Needed: If performance stutters or other players disrupt local wildlife, open the Network options menu and set Multiplayer to "Disabled." The mission parameters and destination remain identical, but local fauna will spawn reliably without interference.
- Select Your Landing Zone: Enter the target planet's atmosphere and head toward the objective marker. While the marker designates a specific planetary structure, any location on that planet hosting native fauna counts toward your objective.
Locating and Feeding Planetary Wildlife
After landing, your HUD tracks the number of creatures fed toward the mission quota. Open terrain and low valleys yield faster spawns than steep mountains.
Look through your Analysis Visor for moving red (uncataloged) or green (cataloged) creature dots. If wildlife does not appear immediately near your landing site, use these methods to trigger spawns:
| Strategy | Action | Primary Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Biome Relocation | Fly 30–60 seconds to a flat valley or plain | Forces the game engine to refresh local creature tables |
| Quick Menu Baiting | Toss a pellet onto empty ground via the Quick Menu | Draws hidden or camouflaged wildlife out from brush |
| Cave & Water Check | Inspect nearby cave mouths or shallow water | Counts aquatic or subterranean species toward the quota |
When animals approach, open your Quick Menu to toss Creature Pellets onto the ground, or interact with them directly at close range. Tossing pellets on the ground groups multiple animals together, and each animal that eats increments your mission counter.
Handling Predators and Depleted Spawns
Target worlds occasionally feature hostile predators that attack your character or scatter the herbivores you are feeding:
- Pacify or Eliminate Predators: Toss a Creature Pellet directly at an approaching predator to neutralize its aggression temporarily, or eliminate it using a Boltcaster or Scatter Blaster.
- Relocate When Numbers Thin: Once you have fed the immediate herd, creature spawns in that pocket may slow down. Rather than searching on foot, return to your starship, fly 1,000 to 2,000 units away, and land in a new area to trigger an immediate fresh wave of wildlife.
Handing in the Mission for Quicksilver
Once the feeding progress bar reaches 100%, your objective updates to direct you off-planet.
- Launch into low orbit and summon the Space Anomaly using the Quick Menu utility tab.
- Dock inside and interact with the central Nexus terminal to complete the quest.
- Collect your mission payout, which includes a large sum of Quicksilver, bonus Nanite Clusters, and high-value trade goods or upgrade modules.
- Spend your earned Quicksilver at the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion, located on the lower concourse to the right of the Nexus cube, to unlock exotic cosmetics, base parts, and companion items.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Can you add more details about updates in a future update?
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
Nice guide. I am checking the other No Man's Sky articles next.
