To claim a Sentinel Interceptor starship in No Man's Sky, warp to a Dissonant star system, obtain a Carrier AI Fragment or an Echo Locator, and pinpoint a crash site on a planet with Corrupted Sentinels. Repairing the ship requires harvesting local Radiant Shards, obtaining an Inverted Mirror, and purifying the ship's Hyaline Brain at an ancient Monolith.
Locate a Dissonant World
Sentinel Interceptors only spawn on planets with Corrupted Sentinels located within Dissonant systems.
- Open the Galaxy Map and inspect neighboring stars.
- Look for systems displaying the Dissonant tag beneath their spectral class information in place of the standard "Water" label. Three-star economy systems offer the best chances of finding multiple candidate worlds.
- Warp into the system and scan each planet from space.
- Target planets labeled with Dissonant or Corrupted Sentinels. Avoid dead, airless worlds or exotic glitch planets, as these cannot generate crashed Interceptor sites. The target planet must feature an atmosphere, flora, and active Sentinel forces.
Obtain a Carrier AI Fragment or Echo Locator
Locating a crash site requires one of two tracking items:
- Carrier AI Fragment: Provoke standard Sentinels to alert level 5 in space by attacking civilian freighters or by triggering planetary alarms and flying into orbit. Defeat all five waves of Sentinel starships and destroy the Sentinel Dreadnought that spawns at the end. Destroying the Dreadnought awards one Carrier AI Fragment, which directly highlights an Interceptor crash site upon activation.
- Echo Locator: Search the surface of a corrupted planet for Dissonance Resonators, which appear as tall, mechanical drill structures. Aim your reticle at the drill to check its dropped loot; each drops either an Inverted Mirror or an Echo Locator. Destroy the resonator to claim the item, then escape or break line of sight to lose Sentinel aggression.
While Carrier AI Fragments immediately point to a ship, Echo Locators are more efficient for locating multiple ships on a single world.
Locate Crash Sites with a Harmonic Interface
Using an Echo Locator directs your ship to a planetary Harmonic Camp. These camps serve as permanent scanning hubs for crash sites on that world.
- Approach the camp's central Harmonic Interface terminal.
- Select the option to scan memory registers, note the three numerical solutions, and enter the matching glyphs to unseal the terminal.
- Access the terminal menu and choose Locate Dissonance Spikes. This places a crash site waypoint on your HUD.
- Leave a save beacon or base computer at the camp. After claiming or rejecting the ship, you can return to this same unsealed terminal and scan for additional Dissonance Spikes without consuming another Echo Locator.
Repair and Claim the Interceptor
Interceptors do not require standard repair components like Metal Plating or Wiring Looms. Instead, you must gather materials exclusive to the corrupted world.
| Required Material | Primary Source | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 3x Radiant Shards | Purple crystal formations across the planet | Powers the pilot matrix |
| 1x Inverted Mirror | Destroyed Dissonance Resonators | Stabilizes core circuitry |
| 1x Harmonic Brain | Upgraded from a Hyaline Brain at a Monolith | Restores flight controls |
Interact with the downed Interceptor and extract its damaged Hyaline Brain. Open your inventory and activate the brain to generate a waypoint to an ancient Monolith. Travel to the Monolith, interact with it to harmonize the brain, and return to the crash site. Insert the Harmonic Brain, Radiant Shards, and Inverted Mirror into the ship's inventory to finish repairs and add the craft to your fleet.
Farm Class Ratings or Scrap for Units
Every corrupted planet features only one cosmetic Interceptor model and color scheme, but the ship's class rating (from C-Class to S-Class) and supercharged slot layout vary at each crash site.
- Evaluating the Ship: Sentinel Interceptors feature a zero-speed atmospheric hover capability, allowing you to stop completely mid-flight to scan terrain, survey fauna, or mine surface nodes. Keep searching the same planet using your Harmonic Camp terminal if you like the visual design but want an A-Class or S-Class hull with adjacent supercharged slots.
- Scrapping for Profit: Claim unwanted low-tier Interceptors anyway. Transporting a C-Class Sentinel Interceptor to a space station starship outfitting terminal yields between 20,000,000 and 40,000,000 Units when scrapped, along with valuable technology upgrades and storage augmentations.

This guide answered the exact question I had.
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
This saved me time in the early game.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
