To win battles with the Clan of the Lynx in Northgard, launch an offensive push during the spring or summer of Year 802. Preparing for this window requires building up food and krown reserves during the winter of 801, unlocking combat-oriented Great Hunt trophy bonuses, and deploying Trackers behind your companion lynxes, Brundr and Kaelinn.
Unlocking Great Hunt Trophies for Combat
The Great Hunt system converts animal and monster kills into trophy points that fund passive bonuses across three branches. Before launching an attack, spend trophy points on combat survival rather than economic perks so your lynxes can absorb damage for your ranged units.
- Predatory Instincts: Boosts movement speed and attack power, allowing your lynx duo to engage enemy ranged units quickly.
- Wild Resilience: Increases defense and grants passive health regeneration in friendly and neutral tiles.
- Mythical Trophy Milestones: Upgrades Mielikki's combat effectiveness, enhancing her support value from behind the frontline.
Spawn bears, wyrms, or boars using the Mythical Lure prior to marching out. Defeating high-tier targets secures the necessary trophies to buff your frontline before entering enemy territory.
Army Composition and Unit Micro
The Lynx Clan does not rely on standard shieldbearers or axe throwers. Instead, build your strike force around Mielikki, the two companion lynxes, and a squad of Trackers. Because Trackers lack native armor and cost both krowns and wood, keep them behind the lynxes during every engagement.
| Unit | Role | Micro Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Brundr | Frontline tank and crowd disruption | Take initial tower and melee aggro; retreat across the border before health falls below 30% |
| Kaelinn | Flanker and burst damage | Target backline enemy axe throwers, archers, or healers |
| Mielikki | Beastmaster support and ranged damage | Stand behind the Tracker line; avoid direct melee combat |
| Trackers | Sustained ranged physical damage | Stutter-step kite incoming melee units and focus-fire wounded targets |
Never initiate a tile breach with Trackers. Send Brundr in first to draw tower fire and melee aggro, position Kaelinn to flank fragile damage dealers, and then march Trackers in to deliver focused volleys.
Step-by-Step 802 Push Execution
Delaying your military push past 802 allows economic clans like Goat or Stag to build larger armies that outscale your warband. Execute your invasion using this sequence:
- Deploy the Mythical Lure: Place the lure near the border to trigger last-minute hunts for combat trophies or pull opposing defenders away from key defensive structures.
- Scout Tile Chokepoints: Send a scout or quick unit ahead to map defensive towers and identify the positioning of enemy defenders.
- Place Hunting Traps: Have Trackers lay traps across narrow tile borders and entry choke points to root and damage enemies attempting a counter-charge.
- Trigger Oskoreia on Tile Entry: Activate Oskoreia the moment your army enters the contested zone. The spirit cloak increases damage avoidance and disorients defenders.
- Focus Down Defensive Towers: Target static defense towers with concentrated Tracker volleys while Brundr absorbs the tower fire.
Managing Aggro and Preventing Attrition
Lynx armies require substantial meat and krown upkeeps, making extended sieges disadvantageous. If an initial push cannot break the enemy Townhall or de-colonize the zone, avoid fighting to the death. Reviving a fallen lynx costs significant resources and stalls your military momentum.
Pull Brundr and Kaelinn back across the zone border when their health drops near 30 percent, allowing aggro to reset or swap between them. If the attack stalls entirely, withdraw all units into neutral or friendly territory to take advantage of Wild Resilience's passive healing. While your units recover, reassign idle Trackers to woodcutting and hunting to replenish your economy before re-engaging.
