To execute clean combat chains in Order Automatica, place movement and tile-clearing cards at the start of your card queue, follow them with tile-dependent or resource abilities, and reserve the end of the queue for heavy-hitting finisher cards.
Because actions execute sequentially across the 3x3 grid, improper ordering causes ability "fizzling"—where a unit attempts to activate before its target, space, or prerequisite condition is ready. Viewing the queue as an active timeline prevents wasted gold and failed runs in the catacombs.
Card Queue Sequence Order
Every card added to the queue triggers unit actions in the exact order it was played. To build a sequence that avoids misfires, order your cards by their operational function:
- Movement and Tile-Clearing Cards (Queue Start): Play these first to shift unit formations and clear blocked spaces on the 3x3 grid. This creates the physical layout required for subsequent units to function.
- Tile Interaction and Debuff Cards (Queue Middle): Sequence resource generators, status effects, and tile-specific abilities directly after movement actions. This guarantees your units occupy the target tiles before triggering their location-based effects.
- Finisher and High-Damage Cards (Queue End): Reserve your highest-damage abilities for the end of the timeline. These cards rely on the setup created by earlier actions to capitalize on established enemy positions and maximized board states.
Managing Gold and Queue Costs
Every queued card costs gold, making efficiency critical to long-term survival. Long, expensive queues increase the risk of over-extending your bank and leaving your board vulnerable.
- Prioritize Multi-Use Value: Select cards that offer passive bonuses or secondary utility alongside their main active effect.
- Conserve Gold when Low: When your gold reserves drop, build shorter sequences using units already established on the grid rather than paying to summon new ones.
- Keep Queues Lean: Avoid adding unnecessary cards that clutter the grid or displace essential units from their required activation zones.
Hitting Ritual Thresholds and Grid Disruptions
Completing stages requires meeting specific "Ritual Thresholds"—defined counts of total unit activations or tile interactions. Layer your card sequences to reach these activation targets as fast as possible, reducing the rounds enemy forces have to disrupt your positioning.
If your queue grows too long or inefficient, trim lower-impact cards so your main combo triggers reliably every round.
When random grid shifts or enemy actions block an action in your queue, swap to a utility contingency plan. Using a low-cost repositioning card to adjust your unit layout is safer than forcing an expensive finisher that might miss its setup entirely. Clear immediate grid threats first before resuming your standard combo sequence.
