To consistently clear early dungeon runs in Otherworld Legends, prepare pre-run drink buffs at Mary's bar, equip matching skill styles with Khan, roll directly through enemy strikes to exploit dodge invincibility frames, and clear every non-boss room on each floor before moving on. Rushing directly to area bosses leaves your character short on gold, weapon damage, and passive items.

Pre-Run Lobby Preparation

Before stepping through the portal into a run, set up your character using the facilities in the hub room:

  • Brew Drinks at Mary's Bar: Spend spare gems and coins to craft beverage buffs. Drinks grant run-long passive bonuses such as increased maximum health, movement speed, critical strike chance, or coin drops. If you struggle to survive the second and third scenes, choose a defensive health or sustain drink to grant a buffer.
  • Configure Skills with Khan: Martial trainer Khan configures your primary skill and assigns one of three selectable skill styles. For the starting hero Quan Huying, changing styles shifts skills like Tiger Charge or Shadow Strike from focused single-target burst into broader area-of-effect strikes.
  • Unlock Secondary Skills: As characters level up, an auxiliary skill slot unlocks. Secondary skills run on separate cooldown timers and do not receive style modifications, but they allow you to alternate active abilities quickly against armored targets.
  • Spend Soul Stones on Unlocks: Prioritize spending earned Soul Stones at Khan to unlock skills and alternative fighting styles permanently before purchasing cosmetic options.

Combat Rhythm and Dodge Mechanics

Every hero possesses a dedicated dodge roll equipped with invulnerability frames (i-frames). Instead of retreating, roll straight through oncoming enemy attacks to land behind targets. This cancels your attack recovery animations, avoids incoming damage boxes, and sets up attacks against exposed backs.

Manage your attack commitments around enemy behaviors:

  • Respect Super Armor: Elite enemies flash white or red when starting an uninterruptible hyper-armor attack. Stop your standard attack string and tap dodge immediately rather than trying to finish a combo.
  • Break Guarded Targets: Avoid swinging into raised shields. Pause your attacks, wait for defensive stances to drop, or cycle your secondary skill to stagger high-poise foes.
  • Evade Projectiles: Step around incoming projectile paths rather than running in straight lines toward ranged attackers.

Floor Routing and Resource Gathering

Clear every side room on a floor before entering the portal to the area boss:

  1. Standard Rooms: Defeat baseline enemies to gather early gold, Sapphires, and Soul Stones.
  2. Elite Rooms: Marked by large statues or skull icons on the map, these rooms contain reinforced enemies with elevated health pools. Defeating them yields chests containing weapons or passive equipment.
  3. Secret Rooms: Inspect perimeter walls for cracks, faint light seams, or abnormal shadows. Strike or dodge into these fractured surfaces to access hidden areas holding coins, health potions, or bonus item pedestals.
  4. Boss Portal: Delay entering the portal until the rest of the map is fully cleared, shops have been checked, and weapons are upgraded.

Peddler Shops and Weapon Upgrades

Managing gold between merchant purchases and weapon modifications determines how well your damage scales into later scenes:

  • Buying from the Peddler: The Peddler offers three random items per floor in exchange for gold. Focus early funds on sustain items that restore health on hit or kill before buying flat stat increases.
  • Avoid Attacking the Peddler: Striking the merchant turns him into an aggressive, high-speed boss within a tight room. While defeating him yields the displayed items for free, dying ends your run immediately. Keep interactions strictly transactional during early progression.
  • Enhancing Weapons: Visit the weapon station to spend gold on flat increases to your equipped weapon's base attack power.
  • Reforging Weapons: Reforging rerolls the passive item traits attached to a weapon. Use reforging only when a weapon provides high base statistics but contains passive traits that do not support your hero's attack cadence or skills.

Item Builds and the Fusion Furnace

Match your passive items to your hero's combat style. Rapid-hitting characters benefit most from on-hit procs such as chain lightning, burn effects, or chance-based summon triggers. Heroes with slow, single-hit attacks gain more value from flat attack multipliers, armor penetration, and critical damage boosts.

When your inventory collects incompatible items, look for a fusion furnace room. Inserting three unwanted passive items consumes them to create a new item. While three arbitrary items generate a randomized reward, specific three-item combinations produce exclusive fusion artifacts that provide substantial damage scaling, continuous health recovery, or permanent elemental familiars. Exchange useless items at the furnace rather than carrying inactive passives into boss fights.
