To survive as a Giganotosaurus duo in Path of Titans, cycle your bleed bites, manage your collective stamina bar, and maintain wide spacing to avoid friendly fire. The Giga is a heavy apex predator with slow turning and sluggish stamina recovery. By trading aggro, holding high ground, and staggering your movement, a coordinated pair can take down rival apexes and repel faster mid-tier packs.

Stagger Bleed Attacks and Alternate Aggro

Do not attack simultaneously. The Giga applies heavy bleed with its primary bite, but continuous swinging drains combat stamina and leaves you vulnerable to heavy counter-attacks from dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus.

Follow this rotation during engagements:

  1. Initiate bleed: The lead Giga closes the gap and delivers two to three precise bites to apply maximum bleed stacks.
  2. Disengage to conserve energy: The lead attacker pulls back to a safe trotting distance to recover stamina.
  3. Cut off recovery: The second Giga immediately steps into the combat pocket, preventing the target from sitting or crouching to clear the bleed status.
  4. Cycle roles: As the target focuses on the fresh attacker, the first Giga recovers stamina, ready to swap back into combat if the target attempts to turn or flee.

Manage Traversal and Stamina Pools

Treat stamina as a shared squad resource. Gigas have fast sprint acceleration but a small stamina pool and slow rest recovery. Running across open fields risks leaving both players exhausted during an ambush. Walk across open expanses and save sprint bursts for initiating attacks or breaking away from danger.

Assign traversal roles based on current stamina levels:

RoleStamina PoolPrimary ResponsibilityMovement Protocol
Point Scout70%–100%Spots distant targets, absorbs initial hits, applies first bleedControlled trot with short sprint bursts
Rear Anchor80%–100%Watches flanks, intercepts flankers, holds full reservesWalking pace or stationary scanning
Recovering WingmanBelow 40%Breaks line of sight to rest, heals, and recharges staminaCrouching in dense foliage or against rocks

When either partner drops below 40% stamina during cross-map travel, slow down immediately. Stop near rock walls or heavy treelines to regenerate stamina before crossing open territory.

Use terrain to cover the Giga's slow turning speed and protect against environmental hazards:

  • Stick to ridgelines: Move along elevated terrain to maintain wide sightlines. Avoid steep drops; a fall will cause severe bone break damage, leaving a Giga immobilized and vulnerable.
  • Avoid tight choke points: Do not enter narrow ravines, blind gullies, or tight canyons where agile predators can trap and flank you.
  • Take turns drinking: Deep water bodies can harbor aquatic apexes like Sarcosuchus or Deinosuchus. Never drink at the same time. One partner must stand five to ten paces back from the water's edge, watching the water surface and surrounding brush. Once the first dinosaur finishes drinking and takes over guard duty, the second partner can drink.

Counter Fast Mid-Tier Packs

Agile mid-tiers such as Ceratosaurus, Allosaurus, or raptors will attempt to circle and bite your tail. Tight grouping causes friendly fire due to the Giga's wide bite hitbox.

  • Maintain wide spacing: Stay 15 to 20 yards apart, forming an open V-shape or backing against a natural barrier like a cliff face.
  • Do not spin in place: If a pack circles you, do not burn stamina trying to turn tight circles.
  • Lead pursuers into your partner: Walk forward in a wide arc toward your partner. This pulls pursuing mid-tiers directly into the bite path of the second Giga, who can land broad clearing strikes without risk of hitting you.

Execute a Coordinated Retreat

If an encounter goes wrong due to missed trades, unexpected enemy reinforcements, or critical bleed damage, execute a staged withdrawal. Never run in opposite directions, as solo Gigas are easily run down by faster carnivores.

  1. Set a rearguard: The healthier Giga faces the pursuers, walking backward and using defensive snap bites to keep attackers at bay.
  2. Move to cover: The damaged Giga retreats in a straight line toward a designated landmark or rock formation to break line of sight and rest.
  3. Disengage: Once the injured player reaches safe cover, the rearguard turns and sprints to join them, resetting the fight on favorable terms.
