Playing the Leviathan mod in Path of Titans requires deep-water positioning, strict oxygen management, and straight-line combat passes. Because the Leviathan trades turn rate for immense bulk and heavy bite damage, you must force fights into open water columns and avoid tight circular chases or shallow coastal zones where your collision box can become permanently stuck.
Managing Oxygen and Surfacing Cycles
The Leviathan relies on an active oxygen meter rather than gills. Submersion continuously drains your air supply, and sprinting or attacking underwater accelerates this consumption. Running out of air triggers suffocation damage, which quickly neutralizes your health advantage.
To maintain safe oxygen levels during aquatic patrols:
- Surface Before Every Fight: Never initiate a combat engagement with less than 75% oxygen. Replenish your lung capacity completely at the surface before diving into an attack run.
- Patrol the Upper Column: Swim just below the waterline rather than cruising along the seabed. Staying close to the surface minimizes the stamina and time required to breach for fresh air.
- Disengage at 30% Oxygen: Break off underwater pursuits immediately once your air meter drops below 30%. Diving deeper after evasive prey while low on air frequently results in drowning before you can complete the ascent.
Breaching leaves your head and back exposed at the waterline. Time your surfacing between opponent attack passes, refill your meter, and immediately dive back into the water column.
Open-Water Combat and Bite Mechanics
The Leviathan relies on heavy bite damage scaled by its high combat weight. Landing clean hits quickly depletes opponent health pools, but a wide turning radius makes turning battles ineffective.
- Use Linear Charge Passes: Do not attempt to turn inside the radius of agile marine predators. Swim directly through the target's trajectory, trigger your bite as their hitbox enters your jaw range, and glide straight past them before turning around at a wide angle.
- Control Vertical Space: If a nimble predator gets behind your flippers, do not burn stamina trying to turn horizontally. Pitch straight down into the depths or execute an upward glide to create separation and bring your jaws back into alignment.
- Time Head-on Collisions: When facing larger marine apexes in frontal trades, snap your bite precisely as their head makes contact. Avoid swinging early, as a missed attack triggers a recovery delay that allows enemies to strike without counter-damage.
- Guard Your Flanks: When fighting hit-and-run bleeders such as Kaiwhekea, Tylosaurus, or swimming Sarcosuchus, back toward underwater trench walls, drop-offs, or cavern faces. Securing your rear limits flanking routes and forces opponents into your forward bite arc.
Avoiding Coastal Hazards and Beaching
The Leviathan's massive body is prone to getting wedged on coastal geometry, sandbars, and shallow river systems. Stranding leaves you unable to maneuver, exposing you to suffocation or land predators.
| Water Depth Zone | Hazard Level | Recommended Movement Tactics |
|---|---|---|
| Deep Pelagic Ocean | Low | Full cruising speed, vertical strikes, and offensive sprints |
| Mid-Depth Reefs | Moderate | Level swimming only; avoid downward lunges to prevent grounding |
| Shallow Coastal Flats | Extreme | Reverse swim on sight; use slow speeds and never sprint toward shore |
If your creature hits an underwater shelf, do not sprint forward. Sprinting drives the collision mesh deeper into the terrain. Stop all forward momentum, engage reverse paddling, and use rudder rolling to back into deeper water.
Stamina Conservation
Sustained sprinting drains stamina quickly on the Leviathan, leaving you stranded if fully depleted underwater.
Travel using standard cruising speed to preserve stamina. Reserve burst sprinting for two situations: closing the final distance during an attack pass, or powering directly to the surface to refill a depleted oxygen bar. When stopping to recover stamina, float suspended mid-column between the surface and the seabed. This position keeps your silhouette away from surface view while maintaining adequate reaction time to evade threats or surface for air.

The tips are practical and easy to follow.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
Good guide for Path of Titans players. The strategy part was useful.
