Plants vs. Zombies™ Heroes on PC is a collectible card game built around the long-running conflict between plants and zombies, with both sides available as playable factions for the first time in the series. Your role is to assemble a hero-led team, choose a deck that complements that hero’s signature abilities, and take it into a sequence of battles against computer-controlled opponents or other players. The game’s 20 unique plant and zombie heroes provide the foundation for different approaches: you might select Green Shadow, the masked, sharp-shooting plant avenger, or Super Brainz, the superbly superficial zombie hero, then build around the super powers associated with that choice. Rather than treating every card as interchangeable, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes asks you to match your collection to your selected hero and shape a strategy that makes the team work as a whole.

The central loop is a combination of collecting, deck construction, and repeated battles. You can collect or craft hundreds of cards featuring familiar Plants vs. Zombies characters alongside original plants and zombies, then use the Deck Builder to assemble a working deck, test a new idea, and upgrade it as your collection grows. Experimenting with compatible cards and devastating combos is a major part of the experience, whether you are diversifying your skills or refining a focused strategy around one hero. Outside individual matches, the ever-blooming adventure map sends you through action-packed skirmishes on separate plant and zombie paths. Defeating botanical or brain-thirsty foes helps you hone your tactics, while challenging bosses can unlock fresh characters and new rewards. Quests from Crazy Dave and Dr. Zomboss add further objectives and provide rewards and currency-building opportunities as you confront their bite-iest adversaries.

The multiplayer structure gives your deck several ways to prove itself. Casual multiplayer battles let you practice tactics against other players, while real-time matches with friends provide a more direct social challenge. When you are ready for a tougher test, ranked play places your strategy against competitors around the world. On PC, a larger display makes it easier to read the battlefield, inspect the cards available to your hero, compare possible deck choices, and keep track of combat information without crowding the play area. Keyboard-and-mouse input is also useful when navigating the adventure map, selecting targets or cards during repeated battles, and moving through the Deck Builder while you test different combinations. These advantages do not replace the need to understand your hero and plan your deck, but they make the process of reviewing a large collection and managing frequent card selections more comfortable. Optional in-game purchases can be used to acquire virtual currency and virtual items, including items selected at random, so collection growth may involve both play and purchases. Online multiplayer, quests, account features, and other connected functions also depend on EA’s terms, privacy requirements, and continued availability of online services.
