About the Official Plants vs. Zombies™ PC Client
Developer: Electronic Arts
Adventure mode provides the main progression path through 50 levels and changes the battlefield as you move through day, night, fog, a swimming pool, a rooftop, and other settings. Those environments make the defense problem more than a matter of repeating one successful arrangement: the available space and incoming threats require you to reconsider how you spend your limited resources and which plants deserve a place in the lineup. The Almanac gives you a practical reference for learning about the plants and zombies, making it useful when you are planning around a new enemy or checking how your collection can answer a particular attack. Progression also rewards persistence. As you advance, you earn 49 powerful perennials, while collected coins can be used on a pet snail, power-ups, and other additions. Survival mode changes the objective from clearing a fixed sequence of stages to enduring a continual wave of zombies for as long as possible, creating a more open test of resource management and defensive judgment. Forty-six achievements provide additional goals for players who want to demonstrate consistent control of the garden beyond simply reaching the end of Adventure mode.
The PC format is especially useful when the action becomes crowded. A larger display makes it easier to read the full defensive field at once, track several lanes or sections of a pool and rooftop, and notice a special enemy before it reaches a vulnerable plant. Mouse input also suits the repeated selection and placement at the heart of every wave: you can move between your plant choices and the threatened part of the garden with the precision needed to drop a Peashooter, reinforce a Wall-nut, or use a Cherry bomb at the right moment. Keyboard-and-mouse input is likewise convenient when checking the Almanac, moving through menus, and handling the repeated actions that come with a long Survival run, while the keyboard leaves the mouse available for accurate battlefield decisions. The result is a version suited to careful observation as well as quick reactions, whether you are learning why a buckethead or snorkeler is dangerous, comparing the tools in your growing collection, or trying to stretch every green and seed through another wave. Optional purchases of virtual currency and coin packs are available, and the game also allows in-app purchasing to be disabled through device settings.
