Adventure Sync extends that movement-focused design by allowing walking distance to count even while the app is closed, with the player’s permission and through the Health app. That feature supports the Buddy system and gives everyday travel a role in progression, although the game remains centered on active discovery and interaction. As a free-to-play game with in-game purchases, Pokémon GO is structured for ongoing play rather than a single, linear campaign.
