To control what Eevee evolves into in Pokémon Quest, adjust the balance of equipped Power Stones on its medallion before it reaches Level 36. The game checks only the ratio of red Attack (ATK) stones to blue Health (HP) stones at the exact moment the level-up occurs.
| Target Form | Power Stone Requirement | Role and Key Moves |
|---|---|---|
| Vaporeon (Water) | HP Stones > ATK Stones | Bulky tank; can learn Hydro Pump |
| Flareon (Fire) | ATK Stones > HP Stones | High-attack damage dealer; can learn Fire Blast |
| Jolteon (Electric) | Equal ATK and HP Stones (or no stones) | Fast attacker; can learn Thunder |
The game tallies only the number of active red icons versus blue icons slotted into Eevee's sockets. Innate IVs, base stats, stone power values, and secondary stat bonuses have no impact on the outcome. Once an evolution triggers, it is permanent.
Power Stone Setups for Each Evolution
- Vaporeon: Equip strictly more blue HP stones than red ATK stones. Setups such as two HP stones and one ATK stone, or a single HP stone with all remaining slots empty, guarantee Vaporeon.
- Flareon: Equip strictly more red ATK stones than blue HP stones. A configuration with two ATK stones and zero HP stones, or three ATK stones and one HP stone, locks in Flareon.
- Jolteon: Keep the number of equipped ATK and HP stones perfectly tied, such as one ATK stone and one HP stone, or two of each. The safest setup is unequipping every Power Stone entirely, creating a 0–0 tie.
How to Level Up Eevee Safely
Because newly unlocked sockets start empty, letting Eevee level up during expeditions risks altering your intended ratio mid-run. To prevent accidental evolutions:
- Remove Eevee from your active expedition squad once it reaches Level 35.
- Open Eevee's Power Stone medallion at base camp.
- Remove or insert stones until you meet the exact count required for your target form.
- Go to Training and select Level-Up Training.
- Use supporting Pokémon to grant the EXP needed to cross Level 36.
If you attract a high-level Eevee from a Gold Pot that arrives between Level 70 and Level 100, the mechanic remains the same. Configure its Power Stone sockets first, then complete a single Level-Up Training session at camp. Gaining one level at any point past Level 36 triggers the evolution check immediately.
Attracting Eevee at Base Camp
To acquire Eevee for evolution attempts, cook dishes that draw Normal-type Pokémon:
- Plain Crepe a la Cube: Offers the most focused chance to attract Eevee. Use sweet ingredients and grey items, such as three Bluk Berries and two Fossils, or three Honey and two Balm Mushrooms in higher pot tiers.
- Mulligan Stew a la Cube: Any random five-ingredient combination can occasionally attract Eevee, though the broader Pokémon pool makes it far less reliable.
Ineffective Evolution Methods
Community theories based on other Pokémon titles do not apply to Pokémon Quest:
- Nicknames: Giving Eevee the names "Rainer", "Pyro", or "Sparky" does nothing. The game ignores nicknames entirely during evolution.
- Team Placement: Placing Eevee in the left, center, or right slot on the expedition prep screen only affects formation order, not evolution.
- Cooking Colors: The colors of ingredients used in the cooking pot have no bearing on what an attracted Eevee becomes. Only its equipped stones at the level threshold determine the result.

Nice guide. I am checking the other Pokémon Quest articles next.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
