In Pokémon Quest, cooking dishes at your Base Camp is the sole method for recruiting new Pokémon. Every recipe requires placing ingredients into five pot slots and completing a set number of expedition stages to finish cooking. By combining ingredient properties such as color, category, and rarity, you can target specific elemental types and species for your team.

Ingredient Properties and Dish Quality

Ingredients drop from completing expedition stages across Tumblecube Island. They are defined by color, hardness, texture, and rarity:

  • Small Ingredients: Tiny Mushroom (Red), Bluk Berry (Blue), Apricorn (Yellow), and Fossil (Grey).
  • Precious Ingredients: Big Root (Red), Icy Rock (Blue), Honey (Yellow), and Balm Mushroom (Grey).
  • Special Items: Rainbow Matter functions as a wildcard to meet color and rarity requirements. Mystical Shells are reserved exclusively for endgame Legendary encounters.

The number of Precious ingredients you add dictates the dish's quality tier, which changes the pool of attracted Pokémon:

  • Normal Quality: Contains only Small ingredients and attracts common Pokémon.
  • Good Quality: Contains one to two Precious ingredients, expanding the pool to uncommon recruits.
  • Very Good Quality: Contains three to four Precious ingredients to boost the appearance of rarer species.
  • Special Quality: Contains five Precious ingredients or includes special items like Rainbow Matter or Mystical Shells, offering the highest probability of attracting rare or evolved Pokémon.

Base Color Recipes

Color recipes are the simplest to prepare because they only require matching ingredient hues rather than specific item types. Use these dishes when you want to expand your roster early without spending scarce materials.

Specialized Type Recipes

Targeting individual combat roles requires combining ingredient categories like mushrooms, plants, minerals, sweets, and hardness traits.

Elemental Recipes

  • Mouth-Watering Dip à la Cube (Water): Soft items and a large amount of blue. Example: 3 Bluk Berries and 2 Tiny Mushrooms, or 3 Bluk Berries and 1 Icy Rock. Useful for recruiting offensive Water types like Staryu.
  • Fire Bowl à la Cube (Fire): Mushrooms and a high quantity of red. Example: 3 Tiny Mushrooms and 2 Balm Mushrooms, or 3 Tiny Mushrooms and 2 Big Roots.
  • Veggie Smoothie à la Cube (Grass): Plants and a high quantity of soft items. Example: 3 Big Roots, 1 Balm Mushroom, and 1 Apricorn.
  • Plain Crepe à la Cube (Normal): Sweet items and a high presence of grey ingredients. Example: 3 Honey and 2 Fossils or Balm Mushrooms. Attracts species like Eevee, Snorlax, and Chansey.

Combat and Utility Recipes

  • Get Swole Syrup à la Cube (Fighting): Sweet ingredients and mushrooms. Example: 2 Tiny Mushrooms, 1 Honey, and 2 Bluk Berries. Attracts Machop, which provides the team buff move Bulk Up.
  • Brain Food à la Cube (Psychic): Sweet ingredients and hard items. Example: 3 Bluk Berries and 2 Apricorns or Fossils. Used to recruit Abra for ranged damage.
  • Stone Soup à la Cube (Rock): Minerals and hard items. Example: 3 Fossils paired with 2 Apricorns or Icy Rocks. Recruits frontline defenders like Onix and Rhydon.

Pot Tiers and Resource Management

Clearing expedition milestones unlocks upgraded cooking pots. Higher pots consume more ingredients per slot but yield Pokémon with higher levels and base stat bonuses:

  • Iron Pot: 3 ingredients per slot (15 total). Recruits Pokémon at levels 1–15 with baseline stats.
  • Bronze Pot: 10 ingredients per slot (50 total). Recruits Pokémon at levels 15–40 with +50 base HP and Attack.
  • Silver Pot: 15 ingredients per slot (75 total). Recruits Pokémon at levels 40–70 with +150 base HP and Attack.
  • Gold Pot: 20 ingredients per slot (100 total). Recruits Pokémon at levels 70–100 with +300 to +400 base HP and Attack.

Pots finish cooking based on expedition clears. Low-quality dishes take two to three completed stages, while higher-quality brews take four to six.

Save Gold Pot cooking for when your late-game ingredient supply is stable. During early and mid-game progression, use the default Iron Pot. Its 15-ingredient cost makes it the most efficient way to check Bingo Bonuses, test move sets, and produce duplicate Pokémon for move-training fodder.

Ingredient Farming and Base Camp Boosts

Expedition stages drop ingredient colors unevenly. Before entering a stage, check the drop wheel on the map screen to match your needed supplies:

  • Coastal and river areas: Skew toward Blue ingredient drops.
  • Caves and rocky terrain: Skew toward Grey and Red ingredient drops.

To accelerate ingredient income, purchase drop-multiplying decorations from the Poké Mart using PM Tickets:

  • Charizard Torch: Permanently boosts Red ingredient drops.
  • Blastoise Fountain: Permanently boosts Blue ingredient drops.
  • Venusaur Planter: Permanently boosts Yellow ingredient drops.
  • Kangaskhan Swing: Permanently boosts Grey ingredient drops.

These decoration bonuses stack passively once placed at your Base Camp, increasing the material yield of every completed expedition.
