Pokémon Quest: How to Unlock and Clear Johto Volcano Island

To unlock Volcano Island on the Johto Second Island, you must defeat Mewtwo in World 11 (Chamber of Legends) on the expanded Chinese client of Pokémon Quest. Once Mewtwo is cleared, an offshore travel icon appears on the expedition map, granting access to the Johto archipelago.

This expansion content is exclusive to the NetEase Chinese release. The standard international mobile and Nintendo Switch versions do not include the Johto regional map progression. If you are playing on the Chinese edition, all previously collected Pokémon, ingredients, and Power Stones carry over directly into the Second Island.

Volcano Island Stage Threats

Volcano Island features dense waves of Fire- and Rock-type enemies, including Generation 2 additions such as Slugma, Magcargo, Houndour, and Houndoom alongside Kanto Fire types.

The primary combat hazards include:

Narrow Choke Points: Encounters take place along tight pathways bordered by lava flows, limiting your team's dispersion area when using the scatter whistle.

Resist Status Conditions (Up to 100%): Mitigating burn application preserves physical damage output and prevents passive health drain from overwhelming your life-steal.
Critical Hit Rate and Damage: Once sustain thresholds are met, invest remaining stone substats into critical bonuses to burn through high-health boss phases.
HP Adjustments: If your frontline Pokémon faints before reaching the final stage wave, swap out attack-focused stones for slots with base HP and Natural Healing until your buffer survives consistently.

Clear Volcano Island stages by carefully pacing wave transitions and managing the scatter whistle:

Stagger Room Entry: When approaching a new pack of enemies in narrow corridors, refrain from instantly queuing offensive skills. Allow your buffed tank to establish position and absorb the first wave of ranged projectile attacks.
Dodge Telegraphed Wind-Ups: Save the manual scatter whistle for heavy attacks such as Fire Blast, which have visible charge animations. Triggering the whistle right before the projectile lands prevents your team from taking catastrophic direct hits.
